Had a wonderful visit with my 91 yr old regional historian/genealogist friend, as we sought resources in the Genealogy Library. The place is full of great materials and the staff and volunteers could not have been more helpful. The Center looks beautiful and well maintained. Of course, the setting could not be more beautiful. It is easily accessible from many directions. I have pioneer ancestors in the area and felt their spirit there. I know my Durst, Hoover, Beeghly Markleys and Hendricks ancestors are thankful to the Somerset Historical Center. I'm looking forward to a return visit soon.

We took a day trip to explore family connections my wife never knew she had in Pennsylvania. She was able to research a wealth of information contained their library of records. She then was able to add more information to her Ancestry DNA family tree. We also enjoyed walking through the self guided museum. We spent so much time inside, next time we will need to explore the outdoor museum and covered bridge.

Unfortunately it was raining so we didn't get to view all the outside buildings. Also I think if you went during a busier season or if event was going on, the experience would be even better. However, the museum was neat & worthy of a visit. Had a discount for admission fee & was happy to pay that amount. I don't think I would've pay full price.

We were there for Mountain Craft Days which was very cool. Lots of vendors, displays, demonstrations, and food choices. The grounds are beautiful and buildings/structures very neat to explore.
