Had a wonderful visit with my 91 yr old regional historian/genealogist friend, as we sought resources in the Genealogy Library. The place is full of great materials and the staff and volunteers could not have been more helpful. The Center looks beautiful and well maintained. Of course, the setting could not be more beautiful. It is easily accessible from many directions. I have pioneer ancestors in the area and felt their spirit there. We seen how different lace was made dried fruits and corn, apple cider and more everything was kept to the time period. I totally loved it all. The reason for it being a 4 star rating is because the food booth all ran out of food before 3:00. Read moreWe had a picnic at the Haupt pavilion. There is a nice playground for the kids and plenty of plugs for the crockpots with a counter across the one side of the pavilion. Plus the house is open with running water and bathrooms, when you book the pavilion. At the Historical Center, there are different clubs and programs in which you can learn to hand quilt, woodworking, history, about your ancestry, and other topics.
