You don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind, and you don’t take on the mountains with The Mountain Man if you ‘spect to see the sun come back up!!

Wowie kazowie. I had been up all 48 of these magenta peaks and done that pemmi loop a time or two, but never in a day. Mountain Man and me made a day of it, and what a day it was! Sun up to sun down runnin around the craziest ring of mountains this side of the Ohio River. Seen a whole bunch of folk come up from Georgia 🇬🇪 some with good good beard (think they took longer than a day to get up to the white mountain) one spoke like he was from down under but I think he also started walking in Georgia 🇬🇪 because OZ is an island. Gday mate! One fella was tired of walking and yelled at the trail. Another explained to his hiking partner that people can travel both ways on a trail before proclaiming that he had just about found peak performance! It takes all kinds I guess. Ha ha!

But I digress. Took these trails every way but out it seemed and after the ol’ nard brigade turned red from the effort I ran out of these woods like the Honda robot hisself. Beat the sunset too! And I may have cheated death but I have since even seen the sun rise again. It sets, but it also rises. Ernie wrote that once! Laid my weary bones down in the cold healing waters of the Pemi and moaned like a wounded moose which I had basically become.

Root beer and vegetable borger make it all right! Good to have woods like these, great to have a The Mountain Man in your life, and cheers to getting back to the mountains when my quadriceps muscles stop yelling at me in another year or two!

I had eaten coffee at the hut as well and cookie bars and soup for...

Overall the tral itself is easy, there were a lot of tourists I'm the beginning portion, once we got through that part there was a alot less traffic. We stopped at Franconia Falls on the way up, it was a short hike off of the trail but definitely worth it. We took Lincoln Brook up to Owls Head, the trail was pretty easy going with several water crossings. We took the slide up and back down Owls head, the entrance was marked by two Cairns. We didn't leave our packs at the bottom, I feel it would have been much easier had we done so. The footing is VERY loose. There wasn't much to see as far as a view either. That was my least favorite of the 4,000 footers so far. We continued to hike Lincoln Brook to Thirteen Falls Campsite, it was VERY wet, muddy and swampy until we reached the camp which is where we spent the night. I have to mention Brie, who was running the site that night, was absolutely wonderful. I was very impressed by her ability to remember every campers name and how even keeled she was. All three bear boxes were broken, she had a line at her tent to tie up everones food that broke three times. Us as well as a few others gave her hand to repair the line. The night was pretty quiet after that. In the morning we headed out and took Franconia Brook trail the rest of the way. There were some really beautiful clearings. Overall I loved the hike, minus Owls Head, which is why I gave...

The "welcome station" here is the most unwelcoming ever. At the busiest time of year, they all the restrooms and the center itself, and put four portapotties out. They do not apparently have anyone come in and service the portapotties. There is no t.p. or hand sanitizer in any of them. There are also no trash barrels.I looked all over the place for somewhere to put my coffee cup, and finally decided to put it with all the trash in the revolting portapotty. Some older lady with long gray hair yelled at me. It turns out they have two dark green dumpsters at the end of the driveway that you are supposed to know to find and use. Way to welcome people, NH! But hey, at least the lazy people who "work" there don't have to do any work. And they have the nerve to have a sign telling people that their fees funded the "improvements" at the area. How is having closed facilities, rude personell, and no trash barrell an...

We hiked to the falls then back. The way up took us almost 3 hours because we made 3 pit stops along the way and the way back took just under an hour and a half. We saw many people swimming in the waterfall area but we were not dressed appropriately for swimming however it looked fun and probably was so refreshing. We did sit on the giant rocks and have lunch we had packed. We saw a ton of people walking dogs, running, and riding bikes. The only bird we saw was a wood pecker. Surprisingly there were so little bugs, but we still put on bug spray just in case. Definitely should have worn hiking shoes…. Did this in adidas sambas and my dogs are definitely barking.

The furbabies and I walked to the falls. After we got there a much needed cool down in the water was needed. The walking is easy it used to be a train track some wood planks are still across the walking path with spikes in the still. The only bad part was on our way back to my truck one of my flip flop straps broke and finished the last 2.5 miles bare foot. Otherwise it was enjoyable. And very beautiful everywhere you look.
