My honest opinion as someone that lives here it's a beautiful lake until tourist season. Only downfall not a lot of places to bank fish. But during tourist season like today for example we were trying to fish at the pier and one pontoon boat was 30 feet from the bank jumping and had music so loud people just couldn't fish and kept leaving. Now keep in mind there was beyond plenty of room for them to go further towards the middle of the lake and not bother anyone and have their own privacy, but no.. Then another pontoon boat decides to try and bank while several people are fishing going right on top of casted fishing lines and decide to jump in and swim to the bank. They actually got the pontoon stuck for a minute because they were that close to the bank. Now there is no boat ramp there they were just being rude. Game warden needs to patrol the lake as it is always out of hand with the tourist. Beautiful place but as soon as summer hits there is non stop traffic, stores are sold out of everything and everything locals look forward to do during the summer we can't because it is just so packed. Hocking hills was a beautiful place until...
Read moreLake Logan Is fast becoming a Lake of nothing but weeds, Bank Fisherman are loosing more and more space to fish by the year. The weeds are no growing from the shore line out in 8 feet of water and in some places even more. The lake has more weeds than I can remember ever and I have recreated on this lake for over 50 years. Even half f the beach has been taken over by weeds. The lowering of Lake Logan every fall has been the main reason for the expanded weed take over . This has also effected the fisher it's self . The numbers of fish mainly the Saugeye are now down to the lowest levels I seen in the past 10 years. This is do to them leaving the lake when the water level is lowered . We use to have State and even world record Saugeye come out of this lake now you may here of one or two during a season being caught. I even talked with the state wild life person running test nets on the lake and they confirm the low numbers of saugeye. Management of this lake needs to look at what they are doing to this lake and the fishery we had and what...
Read moreThe pine loop hiking trail does not exist anymore. After hiking along the unmarked path behind the picnic shelter opposite the beach for just 50 feet, the "path" quickly degraded into animal trails through the pricker bushes. We clambered on up to the top of the hill anyway. We completed a half mile hike in half an hour covered with scratches from the thorns. Trying to actually get in a hike, we followed the road sign to the buckeye trail parking area. Dissuaded by the many no trespassing and private property signs, we actually missed the nearby trailhead, (you have to hike past these signs to get to it). So, we hiked a bit on the road and the grassy strip between the northern sections of the lake. I suppose if you want to boat, fish, or swim, this is a lovely place, but if you want to hike, go...
