We used to live on the Central Coast many years ago (moved to Sheridan, WY in 2007), where wine tasting in Los Olivos was one our favorite activities to do on the weekend.
My husband surprised me with a 26th anniversary trip to visit the coast of CA, and we stopped by the Lincourt vineyard this afternoon after signing up to become wine club members at the Firestone vineyard. We were abruptly turned away. The person who was at the reservation podium told us that there was a private party and that they were not able to accommodate us with wine tasting. This is the only day we set aside on our vacation to enjoy the various vineyards in Los Olivos.
We are incredibly disappointed by the lack of care and concern by one of Lincourt’s employees. He was rude and dismissive. We will never visit this vineyard again, nor will we take the time to visit, any of Foley’s winery’s as we were also turned away from the Foley vineyard off of Hwy 246 because we did not have a reservation. It might behoove Foley to not place “walk-ins welcome” on their signs at the entrance of the vineyards if they don’t intend on honoring this statement. We will be cancelling our membership in the...
Read moreOur decision to stop at Lincourt was initially just to enjoy some pizza and music during their Pizza Unplugged event on Sundays. Boy was I surprised!
The vineyard was absolutely beautiful. Our server was totally laid back. He gave us some background info on the winery and each tasting and even poured several off the menu wines for us. Then we learned about the Foley club. As a member you receive membership prices and free tastings at several wineries, including nearby Firestone and Foley. There's was absolutely no pressure to join. We just really liked their wines. Ended up joining and taking several bottles home that day at 30% off plus got the tasting for free.
The Sauvignon Blanc was excellent. I usually like my Chards oaked, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Steel Chardonnay. Lindsay's Pinot Noir is also a great choice. I like that their wines had just the right amount of acidity and the tannins were not overwhelming.
This is definitely a must stop. Be sure to check their website for events. The pizza and the music made the whole experience even...
Read moreWe found this place on line and chose it because of its good reviews. We lived in Northern CA wine country & have enjoyed many wine tastings & experiences. We were disappointed from the moment we arrived. We felt unwelcome by the young guy at the entrance. The first things out of his mouth were “Do you have a reservation” & “are you wine club members”. He led us to a table, dropped their wine club info in the table and that was it. The older guy who “took care of us” never introduced himself, was disinterested, and rushed through our tastings. They were not very busy, so the rushing was hard to figure out. The man didn’t share information about the wines other than the tasting notes that happened to be printed in the menu. He was so rushed & disinterested in any questions/feedback. All of the wines were mediocre and this guy pushed their club & the sale on one varietal in particular. For the price of the tastings for 4 people, the experience was lacking & very disappointing. I would not return...
