UPDATE #3;

SAD TO SEE TINY HOMES BEING PLACED IN THE FHU RV SPOTS. Thought they were going in the back of campground for some type of Tiny Home Village rentals. Modular or tiny homes parked within the RV sites gives it a full time feeling that many RV owners do not like.

UPDATE #2; APRIL 2023 Will have to say the campground and the park continue to have improvements incorporated into the park. WiFi seems to work much better, even with campground to capacity. But, that may be due to clear weather or other use conditions. They advertise Tree Top Adventure opens in mid April, but we did not see it open. They also have museum road closed, but only because they are making great improvements to shelter house and bathroom facilities on that road. One thing they do need to bring back is a basketball court for the local users of the park, as they have eliminated all of those that were outside the campground. They could also put in a tennis and volleyball court and the park would only compliment the campground more. (Definitely need basketball and volleyball for community use.)

The pool amenities get better each visit and campers get a discount price. Love that the mill and museum are back up and running for visitors.

They could use a small dog park for visitors near or in the campground and some doggy clean up stations throughout the park and campground.

All in all though each time we see improvements when visiting and hope the COL and the LTC take note to suggestions for small improvements.

There are still host campers in spots you never see anyone show up and stay during the week, especially in full hook up spot. But, perhaps they are on vacation themselves.

It would also be great to see all of the old cabin ruins torn down and replaced a few at a time. Would make great overnight or weekend stay for tourist without campers or family reunions.

Will return, as great place to stay.

UPDATE:

The London city council has now updated policies. They include stay lengths, have designated walkup spots that must stay open for travelers till check in time before locals can occupy with a limited short stay. They no longer have 10 host occupying spaces, they now have one host assigned and marked with placement cards per the 3 areas of camping. They have made some improvements and added a few more standard sites.

Hopefully rumor of going all full service soon will be true. It is a nice place to camp.

OLD POST:

Levi is a great place to camp, but there is never enough walkups available for travelers. Seems on the Holidays the locals reserve days they have not even paid for in order to save their spots for a 14 day walk up period.

Campers should not be allowed to hold a 14 day stay and rent it day by day. Reservations should be made for the fulfillment of their planned camping time. When walkups show available they should be immediately available for the next camper that arrives and ask to book those dates.

Instead they are saved for the locals already in them until they decide they want to stay again or not. Most State Parks make you pay for entire stay ahead of time. They do not hold spots for you as first come, first served unpaid...

Planned to camp for 3 nights, and had looked on ReserveAmrica reservations, which showed many sites available. Got busy and didn’t reserve on Monday for Tuesday through Thursday night. Tried to do it on Tuesday morning, but it had to be 24 hours in advance. Called the park campground and as assured that there were plenty of sites. ReserveAmerica showed 37 available. Drove 3 hours to the park and entered the campground. Was told that there were 6 sites available. I said that I called and was told that there were plenty. Lady shook her head no and handed me a map. Saw the first one, which as so close to others that we continued back further. Got to 3 others and were advised by a worker not to camp there as they always flooded. Went back to the first one and someone else had just pulled in. The last 2 sites faced the 2 adjacent sites and your picnic tables were actually touching each other. Your campers would face each other. Talked to another worker about all of the campers that had golf carts, bicycles, and shelters locked to their campers, which looked like they were annual rentals Was told that people were getting set up for Halloween. Set up 6 weeks ahead of Halloween in camp sites that at one time could only be available to rent for a maximum of 10 days. So the park is now like a private campground for people who stay set up for weeks. The same guy told us that the city as getting ready to take the park over from the state.

We called Cumberland Falls State Park campground and was told how many sites were available. Drove there and found it to be as represented. Set up in the site we reserved and enjoyed 3 nights at a campground that was truly a state park campground open for people visiting the state, not a private campground for the locals to have their sites for weeks on end, with all of their toys.

Avoid Levi Jackson Wilderness Road State...

I will start with the positive. Super friendly campers. Nice bathroom/shower facilities. Area well maintained.

We tent camped on K5 & K7. 5 does not have a fire pit and the water for these sites was broken. A constant stream of water was pouring from the base. Making the campsite INCREDIBLY muddy for the entirety of our stay. K7 is at the bottom of a small hill and when it rained the rainwater from the ENTIRE AREA cascaded down to the small creek alongside the site. Literally washing our things down the hill and water into tents. I asked the office about putting down mulch or hay and was told they do not do that but if we wanted to pay to get mulch/straw on our own we could do it. When we arrived there were four pieces of rebar sticking 18 inches out of the ground on K5. We ended up Packing up and leaving a day early as additional rain was being forecasted and we were concerned with the tremendous amount of water that flows to the creek and sleeping there overnight with flooding conditions. We have been camping for well over 20 years and have never experienced issues like this at a state park.

All in all, if you pick Other sites you will enjoy your stay. The fella across the way from K7 had the same issues with water run off from the rain. I really don’t think K7 should be considered a campsite. If anything-hammocks only.

All said, I will be contacting the park again on Monday to discuss the issues as the two ladies in the front office told me there was nothing...
