Absolutely spectacular place. A Hidden Gem on the southern Washington coast right near Oregon.
Edit 2024: The trail is still open and the owner has removed the no trespassing signs. Be careful and take your time on the way up and down, as the trail is steep. A day use pass or discover pass is required, so make sure you have one and display it where you parked. They are available at both a kiosk and a building near the entrance station.
Edit May 2022: trail is open again. No word why it was closed for awhile, but I'm glad it's open again.
Edit 2020: The trail down into the cove is now closed and there are signs there marked as such. I've been here before a long time ago before there were no "trail closed no trespassing signs." I can't say for sure whether someone had to removed the signs or the trail just wasn't closed yet. That said, please respect the signs. I'm curious to know why there are signs there stating it is now closed to the public. If the owner of this page reads this review, it would be nice if they can provide some clarification as to what has changed...
Read moreLove going here with the wife. Pictures are from East coast to. But the home is just enough to get the blood going and the cover is beautiful! The dogs can run free and be safe. The rocks create a huge fence the can't get around or under lol. Great swimming and wonderful sun sets. Only advice I can give besides go to this place if your in the area. Is wear tennis shoes at a min. I wore flip flops the first time and burnt my feet. It's enough of a hike where you need real shoes. Lol. Lesson learned. Other than that. Older people or people with a bad knee or back. Be careful. The hike is super easy. Just the last drop down to get to the beach is about fifty feet. There are trails that go straight down. Beware!!!! Just follow the tail around and there is an easier way. One almost everyone can get down. It's a longer route down and it seems like your walking away at first. But it's the right way and it will save you falling down a root and Boulder filled mountain...
Read moreA "busier" attraction within Cape Disappointment, but no less magical for all the foot traffic. A rainy day or off season week day will spare you some human interaction, but most people I run into seem as mystified by this place as I. It's a bit of a hike... not far, but the trail is steep, uneven, and muddy in the wet months. The last bit to get down into the cove itself requires caution, but perfectly doable. The cove itself is quiet, peaceful, and serene... I have been there and enjoyed the sights and sounds all by myself for hours, I have also seen wedding parties having photos taken, fellow hikers quietly standing in awe of the scenery, and occasionally witnessed the more "adventurous" crawling and jumping all over the rocks. Whatever your experience, it is sure to...
