My fiance and I walked in to a crowded tasting room, no seats were available, so 1 of the 2 hostesses cleared a spot next to the register where we stood. Immediately our encounter was differed from other tasting rooms. The hostess, a small white haired woman with glasses, just plopped the tasting list in front of us and started pouring. They were busy of course, but it was rather abrupt. Thankfully a couple of seets opened up on the bar, another guest beckoned us over so we could sit. We continued with our tasting. A number of times the hostess forgot what we had before and we had to remind her, and there were pretzels on the bar, a strange pairing with wine. There was no moment when either hostess stopped and gave us any history or profile on the wine as I am used to in wineries. We only had flavor profiles on our menues. We finished our tasting and paid, no bottles or cases for us today, and were sitting at the bar sobering up because we are light weights. They had slowed, 2 or 3 other seats were available and no one was waiting to be seated. Five minutes after our tasting the white haired woman got pushy about us leaving. We sat, quietly talking to eachother, and she walks by, "Oh, are you waiting for something?", my fiance explains we are sobering of course, " let me get you some pretzels and help you with that." Pushy, but okay. Five minutes after that she says" Oh, wouldn't you like to sit outside, and get some fresh air, it's so invigorating!" It's February! It's cold, no one else is outside, and she isn't saying this to anyone else but us, and is being rather fake about it. I begin to feel offended and harassed, so does my fiance but we have to sober. I try to make eye contact with the second hostess who is standing there listening to this and looking everywhere but at me. And the only thing different about me and everyone else in that room, folks, can you guess? I am black! She gets the prize for gifting me with some of the most blatant unsubtle discrimination I have had the displeasure of experiencing .Oh, and update, and my fiance just discovered that they have double charged us! Unbelievable! We will have to contact them shortly, let's hope they can muster some competent service on the...
Read moreSo, I have been a wine club member for years. Since they hired Josh to serve wine to loyal customers, wine club members and new customers, the service has been more than disappointing. Sunday was the 2ND time Josh argued with me, in front of customers, about picking up my wine distribution. He said I already picked it up but he gave my wine to another member. The first time he did it he acknowledged his mistake and I got my wine. When I went with my friend to pick up my 3rd qtr distribution Josh again said he already gave it to me. He said I picked it up on Oct 14th...which was impossible because I was in MI. He told me 2 more times I was wrong and refused to give me my $49 wine distribution. He is not only rude but obnoxious. I said I could prove I just got to town on Nov 1st and I could show where I was on the 14th...in MI. My friend even told him I was not in town and he didn't care. Obviously he was worried about his mistake, AGAIN. Then he said I drink too much and told me to leave. I did swear which was inappropriate but the service was disgusting. I was so embarrassed and disgusted with his service I quit my membership. I have expressed my concerns with the owners before and they still keep this arrogant guy on their payroll. It is very unfortunate that one person can ruin a good thing. The following note was a previous review when it was fun and comfortable at SR: Had the BEST time today with Vicky and family as they made our day a fantastic experience since lifting some of the social restraints. Food was great, wine wonderful as ever and company top notch!!!! Thank you for...
Read moreNot a good experience. Our server Josh tried to be funny, but we could tell he was a bit uncomfortable in that role and was trying too hard to be funny. He ended up being pretty obnoxious, which took away from the tasting experience. Josh isn't a bad guy. He just needs to learn how to interact better with people who visit wineries. The wine was just OK. Nothing special. They charged $12 bucks per tasting, which isn't completely out of the question even in that area. However, you had to buy two bottles of their wine (which is fairly expensive for Loomis) to waive just one tasting fee. That was very off putting. That is a bit ridiculous considering where they are located and the quality of their wine. They must think they are in Napa or Sonoma. They need to come back to Earth a little and consider lowering their prices and waiving one tasting fee for each bottle purchased. Hey Secret Ravine, you are just not good enough to be charging Napa prices. You are in Loomis for goodness sake! Sorry, but I think you need a...
