Truly a jewel and so glad I happened to see an article about this venue. We were already in Johnstown and this garden is only about a 40 minute drive away. Charles M. Schwabb, the steel magnate (as opposed to Charles R Schwabb, the finance guy) built a mansion here to be used as his summer estate. Today it is owned by Friars and not open to the public but the grounds upon which it lies is open and free. Sculpted hedges, manicured lawns, one huge birch tree, religious statues added by the friars, vines, plants, flowers, water features abound throughout...

Absolutely a true hidden gem. I was the only one there, so I got to enjoy the entire garden myself. So peaceful, tranquil, and beautiful. I got to light some prayer candles in the shrine room. Excellent spot for phographers as there is so much beautiful scenery. If you are ever driving through RT 422, this is a great pit stop for some peace and quiet. Loads of interesting statues, too! They are no bathrooms and it's has a small parking lot so best to go on a weekday when they are...

One of the most beautiful sights in the area. If you are visiting locally, it is with seeing the gardens. If your are Catholic, there is even more for you. If you can attend an outdoor mass here, it is a great experience. Even if you are not religious, the number of photo opportunities is well worthwhile. People come here for weddings, proms, dates, or any time you need a...
