If you’re trying to escape the city chaos and illusion, this is a good place to rebalance and recharge your energy. I came on a solo hike on a Friday morning and felt safe and loved by the land. I saw some people walking their dogs and riding bikes in alternate hikes. There are a lot of birds in this area, very good spot for birdwatching. There’s also a lot of artemisia here for those who like harvesting herbs. Come with respect. The land will exchange knowledge with you. Quiet the mind and receive the healing. This is a sacred place!

It was a very steep climb to get to the cave and on the path when you park st the houses. The GPS will take you the way that's a block or 2 down. I'm 35 and out of shape lol this cave taught me that. Better wear tennis shoes with good soles and expect to climb your butt off just to get to the entrance of the cave. Read the reviews before visiting to know the places of where to park

I hesitate to share too much because this is one of my favorite hikes! Pretty well trodden open fire roads... and some single track feeding off those main roads. It can be challenging depending on how you go or can be very easy. If you walk your dog, please use a leash... I believe it is the law.... However, about half of the dog owners walk with their dogs off leash. There's a fair amount of mountain bikers.. almost everyone is pretty respectable of each other... I've only noticed a few playing music on their speakers for all to hear, which is not something I'm a fan of. I've seen coyotes quail deer, red-tailed hawks and black tarantulas believe it or not... Look it up. It's kind of cool! On the offbeat trails I've seen coyote melon... Sage and rosemary and fennel are right off the trail. It can get very busy on nice days and on the weekends. So if you don't like a crowd, don't go...

My early morning, pre dawn hike destination. It muddy so check the weather. There are coyotes so bringing small pets might not be the wisest choice. As you enter the park, the trail to the right of the nature info sign does a huge loop. You pass by the famous “Bat Cave”. Don’t climb the bay cave. I can see the peak from my home and at least once every other month a helicopter has to rescue some climber from the top of the peak. I’m pretty sure that jet fuel is expensive and your insurance may not cover it if it’s not a medical emergency. It’s not worth it. I tried it and almost slid off the side of a cliff. Lots of loose rocks. Play it safe and stay on solid ground. Enjoy the peace...
