Great hiking spot! We mapped to 24501 W Vanowen St, West Hills which leads to the El Scorpion park sign and was very close to the caves but otherwise the hike is huge and you can easily get lost. You can hike there for hours if you wanted to. The caves are so beautiful and there are so many huge rocks to climb up and little holes in between to explore (beware of pigeons lol). It feels really cool the be in there. It's not a very easy hike, I'd say moderate. But the hike into the cave is not easy so go up at your own risk and if you're not use to that kind of climb don't commit to it if you're not confident you can come down, we saw wuite a few people struggling, at least have someone you can watch so you get an idea how to do it. Lots of tree, plants, flowers. The start of the hike st the sign is in residential so we parked on the street. This will be one of my regular hiki...
Read moreI hike here quite often. It has oaks, wildflowers in the spring and an intermittent stream and lake to the north side of the main trail. The center and Castle Peak trails have excellent vistas of the SFV and beyond (on...

Despite being underappreciated, the trail was well‑maintained and not crowded when I went mid‑morning. I counted maybe half a dozen hikers over two hours, and even saw a coyote in the distance. Park opens sunrise to sunset, easy parking off Vanowen. Packs a surprising dose of nature within...
