Fantastic! This is my go to place for hiking with my dogs. The place is huge. I have been coming here for years. I did know until recently that there are challenging hiking trails beside a shear distance. The North Vermont Ave area trail is absolutely challenging and gorgeous. For those not familiar with the area. This is where you drive up from Vermont and Los Feliez.Once keep driving up from Vermont enter the entrance gate and go all the up until you make a sharp turn. There is a restroom and small enclosure garden area. The right behind the fence, there is a still hiking tail.It is beautiful scene, very quiet. If you want a quick hiking with a challenge. This is a place do it.Onxe you go up more you arrived at the trails divided into several ways. If want more challenge, do go up behind the divided area next to the sign post. It's not bad as it looks.Just take time and use your hand if you have to from skidding down.Once you reach the top there is viewing area set up.You almost can see the entire city of Los Angeles. The point is this Griffith Park has many level of hiking areas not just pure distance.Recently the public parking areas have been reduce especially when there is some type of a public event.Neverthless this is my favorite hiking...

This is literally the pinnacle of Griffith Park and a must visit if you are able to make the hike. The trail straight up the peak is too steep so I do not recommend it. Take the zigzag Mt. Hollywood trail from the observatory, it also allows you to really appreciate the great views...
