A neat little trip you can take for a half hour if youโre in the Tarzana area. Go to the very, very end of Vanaldenโwhere the road ends and is blockaded off, thatโs where you can park. Just walk ahead down the middle of the dead end towards the tree. The trail begins once you walk under the low-hanging branch.
When I visited (today, 5/8), it said the park was closed, but I disregarded that. It may be why the trail, which is still pretty easy to discern and follow, was so incredibly overgrown, with a widening cavern cracked down the middle of it. It wasnโt a difficult hike, just kinda annoying because it was so rough and inconsistent. Take a left at the first fork. It takes about ten minutes to get to the actual cave.
Itโs a cool spot, for sure. It was totally dead and silent while I was there, which was sorta spooky, but I kinda liked having it all to myself. Judging from the lack of litter and the absence of bigger graffiti names, this seems like a largely unknown...

If you want a longer (2.7 mile round trip) hike, come in from the end of Reseda Boulevard. On weekends the cave and trails to it get quite crowded, and invariably jerks leave trash. Do a good deed and bring a little grocery bag with you and pick up trash on the way out and stuff it in the trash cans at the trailheads. If everyone did that, this place would...

We take the trail most faster to the caves in case we get lost we just use the JPS and we walk for about 40 minutes until we found the cave it was easy.
