This is a gem of a find if you are feeling stuck in the city life. The park is clean, well-kept, and has plenty of room for all your friends and family to have a great get-away, whether it is for an afternoon or several days.
First, it is easy to navigate to and only about 40 minutes east of Shreveport. Lots of parking available, including ♿️ . If you bring your boat or your RV, they have boat launching and hookups (including a dump station). Fishing, kayaking, and other boat sports are available if you bring your equipment.
There are public restrooms 🚻 in at least two locations. They are accessible ♿️ and clean. Outside there are water fountains.
I counted over 20 covered picnic tables, with additional tables and charcoal burners. Trash cans 🗑 are easy to find, and they are emptied daily. We saw one attendant driving around replacing trash bags.
Swimming area is clean, has sand, buoys, and clams in the mud if you care to dig your toes in. There are NO lifeguards on duty. People visiting the park were well-mannered and family friendly. There are two separate swimming beaches if one gets too crowded for your liking.
Large areas are mowed and quite inviting to a soccer game ⚽️ football game, or Frisbee.
The woods offers trails including evergreen, bamboo, and deciduous. We never saw any alligators, but signs indicate that they are present. There is also a boardwalk.
I would recommend this as a great place to spend a day, or bring camping 🏕 gear or your RV and spend a few days. We enjoyed swimming in the lake on a Sunday evening. The park closes at 8 if you don't have a...
