I recently visited Tom Sawyer pool for the first time, and overall, my experience was pleasant. The staff members were friendly and accommodating. However, I did notice a few areas that could use improvement, particularly for families with toddlers who have outgrown the baby stage.

One drawback was that the pool itself seemed quite cold, which could be uncomfortable for young children. Additionally, the water was very clear, and it was easy to see everything that was in it. This might be off-putting for some visitors.

Another aspect that didn't quite meet my expectations was the concession stand. Despite spending $25, the amount of food we received did not seem worth the price. In particular, the portion of fries provided was insufficient for my toddler to fully enjoy. It would be great if they could offer larger portions to better satisfy their customers.

Furthermore, I noticed that some of the lifeguards seemed to have a lenient approach to enforcing the rules. It appeared as though they were selectively allowing certain individuals to bend the rules, which is not ideal for maintaining a fair and safe environment.

Having visited various pools this summer, I have been spoiled by the amenities offered at other locations. Many of them have heated pools and a wide range of activities for children, such as slides and play areas. The concession stands at these places also tend to provide more generous portions of food.

Given the ample space available at Tom Sawyer park, I believe it has the potential to become a truly remarkable water park. If the park management is open to suggestions, I have some ideas and connections with individuals who can help bring this vision to life. Collaborating with a dedicated team or seeking external assistance could greatly enhance the overall experience and transform the park into a beautiful water park...

Great park. I've been coming here since I was a child. There are well kept baseball diamonds, a good archery range with varying distances, and very pretty trails. The park closes at 10pm so you can go for a night walk and not worry about being kicked out by the park. But do bring a flashlight at night as the trails can be bumpy. There is a RC airplane runway on the hurstborne side of the park and pavilions for having a nice lunch on the backside of the park. And a very nice pool with indoor gym and ping pong tables on the freys hill road entrance. You can get a day pass to swim for about $10-12, can't remember exactly how much but it's not bad either way. It has a nice outdoor playground near the pool, as well as tennis courts. Across freys hill from the pool parking lot is a great fenced in dog park. The middle of the park by the archery range is a great place to go star gazing because there is not too much light pollution due to the size of the park. Honestly this park has a little bit of something for anyone who loves the outdoors. Also did I mention the park is absolutely haunted!? An old sanitorium once stood on the grounds in the early half of the last century. Also there was once a military instalation that owned the grounds. By the archery range there is a long building that was once the old train station/ supply depot. You can see it clearly in the sliding doors, perfectly spaced apart to align with locomotive boxcars. Overall it's well maintained and a great gift to have on this side...

Tom Sawyer State Park is a very beautiful and peaceful place to go and take a stroll or a nice easy hike to get lost in nature! I’ve always enjoyed getting the know the history of the park. Having grown up near this state park, I’m very familiar with the changes and what hasn’t been changed for the park.I miss where they used to have horses here at the park, but it’s always interesting to see what has been left behind. As a whole, nothing much has changed over the years. People that attend the park that I’ve come across have always been very friendly. The upkeep of the play grounds and work out stations have kept the park looking fresh and up to date. The hiking trails, though nice, could use a bit more maintenance as they always seem to be washed out. People with unsteady balance could easily lose their footing, slip, and fall. Dog owners also seem to have a bad habit of leaving their dog’s messes behind. I’m not sure if there are public dog poop bags to encourage dog owners to pick up after their pet, but there are plenty of signs and there really shouldn’t be an excuse for owners not cleaning up after their own dog. Owners that do attend the dog park are much better at cleaning up after their dog. Overall, there is somethings that can use some touching up at the park, but it’s still quite enjoyable to go and enjoy...
