Small aquarium with local species. It's not always about size. My kids had a blast learning about the local wildlife and I had fun as well. The state records for fishing are all located on the walls along with other information that is fun for a local outdoorsman. It's only a short walk to get to the old hatchery. Don't forget a small bag of cat food to feed the carp.they will almost climb out of the lake to get it from you. We all had fun with that!took the short walk up a small trail to get to a playground and walked the same path out again. It was a great stop.

Schram is one of those state parks which are near the Platte River. It's a great spot for hiking or having a picnic. They have a few areas with shelters and picnic tables. Last Summer and fall they began cutting down a lot of trees because of some type of invasive species that was taking over. A lot of the trails are fairly open to the sky now but after a few years I'm sure things will begin to grow back. There is no camping at schram State Park, but they do have a fish hatchery museum although I don't believe they use this site as a fish hatchery anymore.

Some trails were closed, as well as the museum—maybe due to the season or COVID but, there were still much to see. No crowds at all. It was quiet and pretty cold. I probably saw two people. It was a bit eerie exploring with no sounds, other than the nearby cars driving by the road and, maybe, some birds. It was a pleasant small hike after a long morning. It was peaceful for me. I loved it.

Schramm Park is one of my favorite places to come to on a nice sunny day. The hiking trails are great to explore and really work your calves up the hills. Right now (Spring 2023) there is construction preventing you from driving through the main part of the park, but parking is still available throughout. You will need a daily or yearly park permit to park here, available online or at the park info board. There is no camping at Schramm, but you can camp at Platte a river State Park or Mahoney State Park just down the road. The education center at Schramm is great...
