1st time we did a float on the Swatara. Water was low due to heat and draught but what a blast. 8 girls in tubes and pulling a cooler. We saw blue herons, and Kingfishers. With low water took about 3 hours from Fulling mill launch to Lytle farm lot. There is a porta potty and parking lot.

If you follow the Middletown-Hummelstown Railroad line (not in use) north along the Swatara, you will see evidence of quarrying from years passed and a small cave. Lots of wildlife - deer, birds, egret, etc. Everytime I walk here I see critters. Please be respectful.

It was a great time to walk next to, it looked like it was over-flooding almost, but I went out right after it was done raining and it was so nice

Great for easy-going paddle session. Generally not crowded. Keep an eye on your river guages - anything on the Swatara Creek over 2' is pretty high - conversely, much under 0.5' is very shallow (use the guage at Hershey or Harper's Tavern). Very nice serene and peaceful place to walk or run. Nice nature trail. You can walk your dog, take a jog, or take a nice little romantic walk with that special somebody. Has a nice pond and bridge to walk over it on. Highly recommend if you need to just get out and...
