Charco Azul is a lovely place for a hike and a swim. The temperatures here are much cooler than at lower elevations, even in the summer. The hike in would be about level 1+ for difficulty because while there is a trail, there are muddy and wet spots and maybe a scramble over a lot. The whole area sustained damage from the hurricanes, but there are ongoing improvements being made. The structures here are rough, but there is a shady place to put your belongings while you swim. Bring a lunch and enjoy the afternoon in Paradise! The charco, or pool is a lovely green, but can become murky when bathers stir up the sediments. A small falls feeds the pool from the left end, with another stream feeding in across the pool. The waters exit the pool over a shallow rocky streambed on the right. The forest and hills rise up all around the pool, giving you a feeling of isolation that is quite wonderful. The pool is full of little fish that will feast on your skin if you hold still, so don't be alarmed at that first little tap! The area is maintained by someone, but at times the trash cans can be full to overflowing. Be prepared to pack out what you bring in. You could make it in flip flops, but water shoes might be a...

Decent place for a refresh after a tired day. Drove all the way from San Juan. Did the Hacienda Munoz tour in the morning, grabbed some pork from Lechonera El Rancho on the pork highway and then came for a hike to burn some calories. Google maps worked out great all the way. Roads were surprisingly smooth except for a few potholes and some narrow roads. Just slow down and don't feel forced to speed like the locals and you'll be fine. The drive is very scenic and serene. The hike is very easy and took less than 15 mins one way. Use the Picnic Area point on maps as the reference to navigate and then park there. Parking is limited and on...

A stunning natural pool that is part of Carite forest in the municipality of Patillas. Is a natural treasure with gray-blue colored waters filled up by streams and a little waterfall. You should bring water shoes to enter to the pool. Is surrounded by trees and an open area with a firepit and gazebos to bring your snacks, food and drinks. A place that you can share with family a friends. Is safe for kids and you can bring your pet. It has a parking space and to get to the pool, you have to walk a 15 minutes trail. Is easy to walk. Is a beautiful place that you will want...
