University of Lynchburg — Attraction in Lynchburg

My first year here was decent interacting with the school. They have a nice campus and food selections, but right away I noticed the greed and lack of communiction the school had to offer. Students not paying for their own tuition/not caring about dealing with the school directly may not have this problem, but trying to resolve issues with them is a headache and lengthy. It seems that they try to milk freshman of any dollar they can get ($300 parking for a lot nowhere near campus for example) and as the years go on they cater to student needs less and less. The parking around campus is horrible and seems to intentionally be that way so that they can have security patrolling looking for cars to ticket, which is $75 per ticket, and almost impossible to get an accepted appeal. They will accuse you and charge you for damages done to a dorm room/house that you have requested all year to have fixed by maintenance. This past school year, I had to get a FAFSA appeal, and I gave the school every piece of information they requested to complete this and allow me to properly access and pay my tuition, but they took over 5 MONTHS to even respond to me by email about the progress of my appeal, despite emailing them multiple times checking in. Once they did reply back, it was a completely different person, and they asked for the same information once again. It seems like employee turnover is extremely high, as I seem to be speaking with somebody new quite often when dealing with their financial aid and other departments. In Summer 2024, they layed off many professors and staff, and cut programs without any warning to anybody. These educators were stranded in the dark, and many students struggled to maneuver their way forward, especially if it was their major or minor that was cut/affected without notice. I have spoken to many faculty members and professors about their view on the near future of the school, and none appear to have high hopes, are planning to leave, or have already left to find elsewhere to teach/work. It wouldn't surprise me if Liberty buys them out soon to further expand their grasp on the city of Lynchburg. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely nice parts of the school and things I do love, and I have had experiences here I wouldn't trade for anything. Traveled from Pennsylvania to tour the University of Lynchburg, more specifically the Nursing program. Beautiful campus, surrounded by sketchy run down communities. While on our tour. We passed several groups of current students making remarks such as, " should we tell them before they make this mistake?" Tour guide was ok, but not overly enthusiastic about this college by her tone or body language. Lastly we toured the Nursing Program and were given information directly from the Dean of Nursing. He was negative, arrogant and kept repeating...did I scare you out of Nursing yet? Informed us they never fill their 60 seats. Talked to a lady at a local restaurant and she said the Nursing program has quite a reputation of being unorganized and would've never put their kids in that program.
