We had to be cleared by the Ranger to sleep here as we have a lightly converted van. They let us stay because we had an option to hookup to power with climate control (extension cord with a heater and fan) The grounds were very nice and kept up with, they had a loop of camping mostly RV spots with power. The lower level had full hookup for the big guys with sewage and water. Fire pit with a flipping rack for cooking Asphalt roadway and parking spot on the site Rock area with a picnic table Dump station Bathrooms were real toilets and multiple showers all kept very clean and maintained daily. Hot water and central location. The recreational area was a very nice little beach on the lake with its own bathroom. Multiple disc golf courses of all levels( They also rented discs, I had only seen the return box so I don't know how much) The rangers were nice and constantly on patrol, there was a loud bang (gun shot?/backfire?/electrical short?) I witnessed a ranger quickly investigate the noise which was comforting. Mostly nice people we encountered there, but we had a neighbor set up a few days after we had been there already, she was a Karen and didn't like seeing us have fun or laugh. She reported us to the rangers and they took her side and made us feel uncomfortable so we ultimately left because of this. We had a clean set up but we cooked and prepared our food outside and spent our time outside as we were CAMPING. But since we didn't have a fancy travel trailer we didn't fit in too well. Yuppy level 7 out of 10. Hippie level 2 out of 10 Would try to go back again if passing through to give it another shot.

The camping fee for normal hookup is $22. There are full hookup sites available for $28 (I think). Plus they have cable. Tent camping is $18. You can only book by calling. We have camped at Claystone two times; once in the fall and once in the winter. We enjoy the campground and the spot we have been in both times (#13) is very roomy, even with a big 5th wheel or a smaller travel trailer. Campsite had a nice picnic table and fire pit. Everything is surrounded by tall pine trees, but fairly open area. Although we don't use the bathhouse very often, the couple of time I have been in there were clean. There are 2 or 3 shower stalls and it's about 90°, so it was nice in the cold weather. If you want to get some natural firewood, you'll have to walk or drive over to the regular recreation area. Around the campsites, the wood has been picked clean. But over by the boat ramp and disc golf course, you can find some old wood. It would probably be better to bring your own.

I love being able to take my kid to the beach without taking my kid to the beach lol It's clean and quiet (we visited in February and March), and it's convenient to have a playground right next to the beach. I don't totally understand why it costs money just to enter the park... It says it's a public park, so why do they charge $3/person to enter? (Seriously, if anyone can answer this, please let me know. I'm curious.) For me, it's worth it and I can afford it since I'm only paying for myself and my toddler gets in free, so I don't mind, but it would be nice if there was a free option for people who want to put their toes in the sand without driving to Tybee. (Maybe it exists and I just haven't found it yet, but in the meantime, Claystone Park is a nice weekday option.)

We have visited Claystone Park many times and have truly enjoyed our experiences there. I am sad to say this will most likely be our last visit. Since the changes to on line registration, the difficulty in obtaining a reservation was only the beginning of this camping nightmare. After spending days trying to obtain a reservation with none one who could help we finally learned you could not use a cell phone to enter the reservation site. No email was sent after finally paying for the site. Upon arrival we were told we could not be admitted without a reser# which we should have received in the email. Always in the past we were allowed to enter the site prior to check in time if no one was on the site. We have a group of senior citizens who like to camp together. Some of our group arrived at 11:00 and had to sit in the heat until 2:00 even though no on was one the site. When 2 arrived several rvs tried to enter at the same time. There is only availability for 2 rvs in the check in line at once. The others in the group were warned about the check in time so we did not all arrive at the same time since there was already a back up in check in. This would have been the cause of a dangerous situation since the check in is on a hill in the highway. Because of these issues and the danger for senior adults sitting in the parking lot on the heat, we will have to find a more camper friendly location that appreciates our financial contribution a little more. We are old people who are not computer savvy and sometimes...

I'm staying at the lake and a women wich look like a hippie was stalk and harrased by park manager wich was very rude black women who seem very bitter to black men of color I decided I would walk to the bathroom and use it when a was stop by park rangers and said I couldn't proceed any further I ask why but couldn't get accurate answers but a lady afraid of bunch armed rangers ready to attack her instead of speaking with her so I used the restroom and ask supervisor could I speak to young lady letting them know I'm a pastor they said so no and we don't need your assistance from the holy spirit and proceeded to down my beliefs and said don't no one believe in Jesus Christ and the rangers agreed with her nonsense so they lady proceeded out the bathroom and I stay prayed and watch and sew what the rangers would do to her well the office manager kept bangering her called cps on family called 8 park rangers with guns and tried to attack her but and the end all this still no arrest and still no real help on lady end no children were taken and she didn't haft go to the hospital. This office manager was rude to a man of God who look to offer counseling services to lady immediately but said they weren't going allow me to get into danger how was that possible they already did if that was the case by allowing me to walk into the bathroom but that wasn't putting me in danger sound like a bunch...
