I play pickleball at Garner. It’s a little more protected from the wind being down in a little wooded area. Great competitive play at 6am each morning. The courts do have some cracks which you have to be careful cause you can catch the edge of you shoe on them.

Other parks do not have the shade Garner has either. There is a nice walking path through the park which is paved. It’s a has a great hill for sledding in the winter and a nice prairie area. It is well used.

The dedicated pickleball courts are down a hill so if you have trouble walking up a hill they would be more of a challenge because the bathrooms are on the level of the parking lots. There is no porta-potty by the courts or a water fountain. You need to bring your own water. The photo is playing in Feb ‘24 when it was 80 degrees. We played outside all winter that year...

Garner Park is a gem in Madison! It has so many uses. The tennis courts have been converted to pickleball and now serve many active residents. Lessons are available through the summer months.

Opera in the Park is a free event for the community that is held in what is a natural amphitheatre in the Park. The slope of the sledding hill provides summer seating to a huge crowd, drinking wine, picnicking, and enjoying sublime music from Madison Opera.

The natural prairie is lovely in all four seasons, providing cover for a variety of birds and wildlife. The Madison Parks Department has recently upgraded the paths and roads within the park to make it very accessible. Playground equipment is available and well used by neighborhood children and...

Garner Park is a delightful retreat in the heart of the city, perfectly suited for both relaxation and recreation. Its neatly maintained walking paths provide a serene escape, and the modern playground is a favorite among children. The sheltered picnic areas are great for gatherings, and the sports facilities add a touch of excitement for those looking to stay active.

One of the most unique and charming features is the Opera in the Park series, where visitors can enjoy live performances in the beautiful outdoor setting.

Garner Park's thoughtful design and well-kept amenities make it a must-visit destination for all ages, offering a harmonious blend of leisure and...

This garden was an absolutely lovely place, and I am so grateful that I was able to experience it. There's many walkways in trails within this garden, most plants were labeled with their species name. There were many places to sit within the garden moving benches around greenery and small shelters and pavilions. There were also several beautifully maintained and sculpted fountains. This would be an amazing trip to go on with family members of all kinds. When I went there was even a marriage ceremony that was being helpful. I highly recommend experiencing this breathtaking garden.

On a random Saturday afternoon, I popped by Garner Park. Luckily, Opera in the Park was happening so there weren't a ton of people at the pickleball courts 🙌🏻 The courts are really nice. I love that they are actual pickleball courts not just tennis courts with pickleball lines. My partner and I met a player there who was REALLY GOOD and gave us a ton of pointers (shout out to Peter). Great park!
