This is a fairly nice lake overall, but the amount of motorized traffic during the day, especially on weekends, makes it nearly impossible to use a canoe or kayak without spending most of one's time turning into big wakes. Fishing is solid, and one can catch nearly every warm water species. I like to fish for smallmouth along the University shore, Picnic Point, and Governor's Island areas.
