Lake Mendota — Attraction in Madison

This is a fairly nice lake overall, but the amount of motorized traffic during the day, especially on weekends, makes it nearly impossible to use a canoe or kayak without spending most of one's time turning into big wakes. Fishing is solid, and one can catch nearly every warm water species. I like to fish for smallmouth along the University shore, Picnic Point, and Governor's Island areas. A beautiful lake! I love going to the Memorial Union, grabbing ice cream, and hanging out by the lake shore. You can watch the waves, the ducks, boats, and the sun move across the sky. Does anyone notice after the discovery of archaeological canoes and fishing gear, if you zoom into the two dark spots within the lake, you can see what appear to be 2 old sunken canoes within the lake itself?
