Will not be returning after this last visit. Checked in to the Star Dust wing, the carpet was moist to the touch. Later the next day I had checked my bank account after a notification charge, the hotel had over charged me as a Tribal band member. I called front desk requesting a manger and was told the manager would be 2 hours late due to issues with his kids, along with the lead assistant calling in for the day due to a hand injury. The representative (Ann) I spoke with was less than professional as she lacked any sense of care, she yawned multiple times while on the phone with me. Needless to say I did not receive any help and would call back once more to hear a different story about a manger not being available. Not to mention me and my family later arrived back to the hotel after house keeping entered to find hair and toothpaste in the sink from our morning routine, food under the beds, pillows tossed on the beds and lucky if the sheets were even tucked under completely. I am in absolute disgust after a third time calling regarding my complaints. I had spoken with a "shift lead" Alan Oppergard whom wasn't very sympathetic about the situation. After asking again for a manger being that I wasn't receiving adequate care, he cut me off mid conversation and replied "I am the person available, I am the only person". Alan proceeded to tell me there was nothing he could do about the over charges as a band member and I'd have to wait to speak to financing. Alan also had not intentions on accommodating the fact we returned to a dirty room and that moving rooms would be an inconvenience not to mention the question as to whether the new room would even be clean. Out of curiosity I looked at Google reviews and happened to see more often than not negative feed back inregards to the hotel, customer care, staff and professionalism. Further more, I am 2 days into my 3 day stay and still have not received any help. I will be writing up a customer grievancy. I wouldn't give this hotel any stars if that was an option!!!! WILL NOT...
Read moreWe typically come and stay at this casino and have had good and mediocre nights but never bad until lastnight. My husband and I have never attended a concert at Mahnomen in our 10+ years of going there and our first experience was horrible. I'm also upset at the fact that I was very excited for the Jon Pardi concert that I purchased tickets the very first day they went on sale. Lastnight people were already sitting in our spots and were not happy that they had to move and then we learned how overly close the seats were that they were also miserably uncomfortable to sit in. I chose seats that would accomadate my husband being that he's a very tall and bigger man but it still didn't work out. I decided to ask the gentleman that assisted us to our seats if there were any other options and he asked me to check at the ticket sales window and after explaining our situation the gal at the ticket sales window said that all I could do is ask everyone in our row to move their chairs over on both sides down the aisle. Prior to this we had heard people were already moving their chairs to the sides but were getting told to stop moving the chairs as well, so that made no sense. So we asked if we could just stand in the general section but we're told that the general was full. I also asked if I could get a refund seeing that no one was going to assist us in coming up with a solution but the answer was no as well so we decided to leave. We had also reserved a room for this night but thankfully canceled it 2-3 nights prior. The room we booked was just a standard room that was available, nothing we wanted but reserved since we were planning on staying the night. Thankfully we canceled or else we would've spent $170 for a room we didn't care for on top of our loss of $130 for the Jon Pardi tickets that we were unable to enjoy. Mahnomen for the first time has disappointed...
Read moreMy husband and I drove to Shooting Star last Friday to try our luck and to check out the steak and shrimp buffet. Both were a disappointment. This wasn't our first visit for the gambling. We have never had any luck there, and this last visit was no exception and I did not see a lot of other people hitting either. The buffet was the worst. Thank goodness we each had a $10 dining credit. If I had paid $25 for that meal, I would have been furious. The salad bar was sad, with not much offered in the way of fresh vegetables, and the rolls were stale. The chicken wild rice soup was actually not bad, although it was barely tepid. My husband tried the seafood alfredo and asked me if it was supposed to be served cold. There were three bowls of shrimp. Two of them had different names but were basically the same. Miniscule shrimp encased in greasy deep fried batter. The other was a weird Buffalo shrimp dish. I guess there was some shrimp in the very spicy Buffalo coating, but it was hard to find. I think the steaks were those crappy no name hunks of mystery meat. They seemed to have been cooked properly, but that didn't help the taste. The ham and cheese sliders were cold, and the buns were hard. The mac and cheese was kind of gross, and again, room temp. The dessert station was cookies out of a box and some very limp looking pies. The pumpkin had no flavor, and the crust was barely baked. Thank goodness the ice cream machine worked. My advice is to give this buffet a pass. At $25 per person,...
