Lots of parking, pretty views of Sierra peaks, a large bright green meadow with 2 streams flowing through it, north of the lake, and good fishing. Terrain along Tioga Lake is fairly flat too, so it's easy to walk to different spots around the lake. I caught my limit in 2 hours, with 3 of my rainbow trout around a pound...good size for a high elevation lake like this. I inflated my nightcrawlers with a Worm Blower- a small needle tipped plastic bottle found at most tackle shops. For an added attractant, I added a Rainbow Glitter Powerbait cap on top of worm. If the Powerbait comes off, your inflated crawler will stay off the bottom, where the fish swim, 12-18 inches of 2lb leader works best, with 2 small egg sinkers, then swivel, then leader, then use a size 16...
Read moreTioga Lake is a pretty nice lake but not fantastic, however the whole Tioga Pass is amazing and this is just one stop along a great scenic highway.
I recommend coming here during fall or just when the first snowfall happens. You can usually take the pass about 12 miles for free, and also before road closures during winter.
