Where to Go Camping in California This Summer? Look Here!

Wonderful experience staying here with my family. Camp host, Meadow, and stand in, Susan from Junction Campground were just both so lovely and helpful. Some of the sites fit small trailers. You really can't beat the view of this lake. There are several local hikes that rival the beauty of Yosemite so I'd check those out. (Nanutak, Saddlebag Lake, and Shell Lake). I would keep in mind that there is absolutely no cell service (love) and it gets quite chilly at night. We were there in August and it was in the 30s at night.

I never stayed at the camp but the lake is gorgeous. I been here twice now and the first time was sunny and clear. This time was cloudy and cold. Great for wandering when we couldn’t get into Yosemite. Water is very clear

Just a brief observation: there are 12 campsites, each with bear-proof food storage bins, firepit, and table. Each site can facilitate tents, but if you have a camper or small RV (preferably less than 20 feet) one can camp comfortably. The main reason for short RV's is parking. It's a loop, so any long vehicle's will restrict movement of other vehicles. Also, any issues you may have that'll make your trip better, let the hosts know (there are at least 3 in the pass area...Saddlebag, Ellery, and Junction...

The camp host was the best we'd ever seen. He was active, hard-working and engaged the campers. Sites are really close together. It's a quarter-mile from the Yosemite gate which is built right on top of Tioga Pass. The campground was clean with a vault toilet that was well maintained. We had a good stay of two nights and...
