There should be a survey available for students to complete on the faculty and not just an end of term survey evaluation for the learning material. The faculty at ECPI needs improvement. It is so unorganized it’s frustrating for students who have to keep resubmitting documents that were missed placed on the schools end. The material being taught to students should be reevaluated considering the instructors are literally reading off PowerPoint slides, telling students to read 5-6 chapters to be tested on the material the following week. How are we really learning the material cramming just to barely pass the exam. Not to mention it’s very hard to understand certain instructors (Ms. Getchun) dialect. The DON for the ADN program (Ms. Ballard) is very rude and love to use her authority to intimidate her students by saying “I can fail you”. Now I don’t know why a DON would ever say that to students especially those who buss their ass to be academically, successful, knowing how tedious and fast pace this accelerated program is. The fishbowl where students go to use the computers or print half the time the printers do not work. The few times when it is operating properly there’s no paper then you have to walk around looking for someone who can restock the paper. And there’s only ONE printer accessible for students considering the amount of money some of us pay monthly or the loans we take out to pay for tuition, this is all ECPI can accommodate. There have also been times when instructors did not have enough supplies to distribute to students in our skills lab, that’s so unacceptable. Not to mention, the turnover rate with instructors that results to cancellations for some classes that is required for students since we have to have a certain amount of time whether it’s sims or clinical time. It is so micromanaged at ECPI that something really needs to change. This school only care about is not losing their accreditation.
The advisors make this ECPI out to be the best school to attend to achieve your goals, but the other side is totally different. What’s being advertised is not what you get. SIMS class we never cut on the mannequin that they said they spent so much money on. We only talked things out in front of the instructors while demonstrating on the mannequin. Only 10 students are allowed in the room during SIMS class and let’s just say you’re lucky if you get all of your required SIMS hours during that term if not, you are short of hours and have to make it up apparently.
I honestly would not recommend this school to people. They only want you to pass their exams vs learning the real...
Read moreMultiple instructors are incompetent, the people in charge of the nursing programs are highly disorganized, and you can't get an adequate response from anyone to save your life. Now, if you do get a response, it will be a sentence or two dedicated to dismissing your statement or saying why you're wrong. If you wish to come to this school, be prepared to face racism, sexism, and general discrimination. If you're not a minority, be prepared to be ridiculed for not being a mindreading-genius. The dress code is highly regulated, unlike the education standard. They offer two sets of scrubs that is paid for by your tuition, but good luck getting them because it took mine over two months to ship. Oh and good luck getting a good grade because you will be sent home if not in "proper attire" and there are GRADED uniform checks before clinicals even start. It doesn't matter if it's not your fault that you're not in uniform, you will still suffer the consequences. The nursing programs are meant to prepare you to pass the NCLEX and to be a good nurse, but it doesn't achieve either of those things. Oh also, be prepared to spend money on your assignments. Some of the projects require you to bring in things that you have to spend your personal money on, and apparently that's normal here. If you have already spent all of your money on the tuition, have fun getting points deducted on those assignments. They tell you to not work while in this program, but some people have to so that they can pay tuition. If you have to do this, just be warned, they come out with the next term (5 week) schedules 2 days before they start. You should also assume that all of the times on the schedules are wrong, because the person in charge of making them is a geriatric Karen that suffers from chronic typo syndrome. They also change the dates and times based on their mood and don't inform the instructors, which could cause the instructor to keep you past the time you are scheduled for. Also, if you have exceptions for a disability, good luck getting that. You can turn in all the right paperwork and they still won't honor it, which again, jeopardizes your grades. Then, if you fail a class, it is nearly impossible to get into the next one and it will push your graduation date back by months. They make it nearly impossible to become a nurse, not because of the difficult content, but because of the insufferable instructors and unregulated, disorganized management of...
Read moreAt first, I was genuinely excited to learn more about ECPI and their radiography program. I called to inquire about the program, but was immediately told by someone named Netty that I had to come in for a meeting—just to get basic information. I found that odd, considering most schools are more than willing to give prospective students some information over the phone.
When I arrived, the meeting with Netty was extremely rushed. I wasn’t given the opportunity to ask any questions before she sent me off to take a test I didn’t even know I was expected to take. I had clearly told her I wasn’t planning to start school until next year—or possibly the year after—but she continued to push me to start as soon as possible. I ended up walking out of the testing area because I felt stressed and completely unprepared.
During the campus tour, I again tried to ask questions about the program, and Netty either ignored them or gave me vague, dismissive answers. The only thing she was clear about was urging me to take the test so I could start in October—again, despite me telling her multiple times that I wouldn’t be enrolling anytime soon.
On the phone, she assured me the program could accommodate full-time workers and even hinted at online or part-time options. However, toward the end of the tour, she finally revealed the program is full-time only and that working full-time wouldn’t be possible. I wish she had just told me that from the beginning—I wouldn’t have wasted my time visiting.
To make matters worse, when I called a few days later to cancel the test, Netty told me I was “scared I wouldn’t pass,” instead of respecting my decision. It felt incredibly judgmental and unprofessional. I also tried to contact ECPI multiple times to speak with another advisor but never received a response.
Overall, my experience with ECPI was extremely disappointing. It felt like I was being pressured into enrolling quickly without regard for whether the program was actually a good fit for me. The whole process came off as pushy and money-driven.
I strongly advise anyone interested in radiography to consider other options. I’ll be attending NOVA’s radiography program instead—while it’s a bit longer, the tuition is less than half and they’re much more welcoming. My experience at ECPI was a complete waste of time. I would leave zero...
