Great moderate hike! Took us an hour to hike up to the falls and we were puffin since it's a constant ascent but worth the effort. Mosquitoes were bad by the water but trail wasn't too bad as far as flies go. Trail is well maintained. I almost wore sneakers but glad I didn't as there are lots of rocks along this trail and they were a bit slippery since it had recently rained. Had to cross 2 streams and there were still lots of muddy areas so hiking boots are more recommended than sneakers. But if it hasn't recently rained, well treaded sneakers should be ok. The falls are pretty but this time of year there wasn't alot of water coming down the falls. Still a great hike and great views. Hike back to the car was very nice since it was...
Read moreModerate difficulty trail. Some loose rocks, occasional tree roots and wet areas. Approximately 2.5 miles of gradual upgrade leading to a waterfall, then back down the same trail. In May-June you may find native orchids in bloom at mid elevations. Salamanders live under rocks and branches. Many interesting species of mushroom. I did not see the reintroduced Martin but there are ongoing efforts to increase the population of this rodent like creature hunted to extinction in the region for the fur trade. This is a great place to bring your dog but be cautious off leashing due to steep dropoffs...
Read moreTo be honest, it's kinda a long hike for a waterfall... it is a large beautiful waterfall though. It took me 2 hours and 45 minutes to hike in and out. The first 3/4 of the trail is uphill, steep at times and muddy as some streams seem to run down it. The last 1/4 is flat to down hill. When you reach the falls, climb up for the view... if you scramble down, everything is blocked by trees. The entire hike is in the woods so you could probably skip Sunscreen but I'd put on some bug spray. Also plenty of potholes on the road in, some of them seem large enough to swallow a...
