What a hidden Michigan Jewel on the big lake coast. We have driven by this arboretum many times and never once realized there were 4 giant sequoias growing here from California. The trees seem to be thriving. There is parking across the street then it's a short walk to the area that has the trees. 3 survived from the original 6 brought over in the 1940's from California. There's another younger tree planted within the last quarter century. Definitely work the stop and see. ...

We stopped here in mid-August and it's a very beautiful and peaceful spot. Well worth a visit! We came in our 30' motorhome and there is no parking for a vehicle of our size on the grounds. However, if you go 1/4 mile farther north there is a beautiful public beach with very wide paved shoulders. We parked there, hiked up to the Sequoia and then came back for a quick lunch in the RV with wonderful Lake Michigan breezes blowing through the...

Really interesting little spot, but poorly cared for. Large downed trees and old, faded, and crumbling signs. The "visitor center" is in sad shape with not much of anything inside. We were there 3 years ago in the dead of winter and it looked better cared for. Its unfortunate the new ownershio hasnt kept up the property. Hopefully it is just in a state of transition. The tree was beautiful, the best part was the property had an overlook, perfect for sunsets! It was pretty foggy the night I was there, but still gorgeous

To be honest it was a bit underwhelming. I'm very glad we stopped to see. It's a miracle that these tress grow here in our climate. Too far north and too cold. It's not a giant like you would see out in California but it is a giant here. If in the area it is a must see. There are several other big sequoia trees and a fee small ones. Hope they continue to flourish and grow bigger so future generations can see them and enjoy.
