Brought my kids and they loved seeing the animals at the petting zoo and the fish under the bridge! Plenty of room between play equipment for parents to keep a good eye on their littles while they run their energy off! Have previously used the work out equipment and it's great that they have the little pictures that show how to use it. Probably not for people who don't want to be seen exercising unless you go during a quieter hour of day. But really even if the play ground is full of kids no one is actually going to be watching you because they all too busy taking care of their groups/families so not a big deal. Lots of good walking/biking trails and some intersect but not often so you can find/make a rout that is clear through. They have plenty of picnic table areas for like gatherings that are beyond well spaced on different sides of the hill so almost keeps them like private gathering spots! Lots of beautiful scenery and several play places for the kids. Some beautiful open areas to sit and enjoy the view and plenty of tall trees for shade with less bird disturbances. There's some of every tree but the ones that stood out were the taller ones. Over all a great park for most your park needs. You can even choose a good location for either distancing or for social interaction. Seen some college kids a few times set up hammocks where they were studying for school while sitting in their hammocks, looked like they had good calm quiet...
ย ย ย Read moreSibley Park is a gem of Mankato, MN. Located in the western-most part of the city, it sits at the convergence of the Minnesota and Blue Earth Rivers. It's also one of Mankato's oldest city parks, established in 1887. Amongst the features to explore at this expansive park are beautiful flower gardens, ponds and fountains, a petting zoo, playground equipment, baseball fields, grounds to walk and hike, and a serene outlook of the Minnesota river. Its a very relaxing place to enjoy time with family or just a Sunday afternoon stroll. One of the most interesting features of the park is a large hill in the middle of the park which was formed by glaciers, which makes for a popular sledding hill during the winter months. Sibley park is also known for it's winter Kiwanis Festival of Lights, in which the entire park is lit with hundreds of 1000's of dazzling light displays, and is a popular attraction during the...
ย ย ย Read moreThis Kiwanis Christmas lights tour was incredible. We got there right at dusk and parked on a side street close to the park and did the walking tour. We were there for about an hour and that was enough for us to see everything. There was hot chocolate in the concessions shack but quite a line, so we didn't do that. The regular park swings and toys in the playground were available for the kids to play on. If you do the driving tour, it appears that there was parking along the route that you could pull into and then walk. They had a large pen with real reindeer in it and that was fun to see. The line of cars was real long when we left about 6:30 on a Saturday night so you may want to check this out during the week or get...
