Do not camp here if you might arrive after 6pm. While the scenery is simple and pretty, that is the only redeeming quality. We reserved our site back in April and got our receipt and confirmation, there was no mention of needing further important information.
We got to our site (B1) at 10pm and set up our tent. Afterwards, we wanted to use the restroom and get into our sleeping bags. We found the bathroom doors padlocked. We checked our emails and the card at our site. No passcode. We called the number. They stop taking calls at 6pm. We went to the office. No one. No host at the host site.
We had to drive to a nearby gas station to use the bathroom.
The next day, there was a guy at the office to give us the passcode they hide in their office desk.
If it weren’t for the bathroom issue, this would be a 3/5 at least. But I can’t give a review higher than 1/5 for a place I had to leave to use the bathroom.
Edit after second stay: We had already booked at this campsite on our return trip during our road trip and decided to stick with it. After the first night, we had sent a message to the city of Mankato website about the bathroom issue. After a few days, but before the second stay, they told us they had contacted the campground and they put the code by the self registration mailbox. Hopefully the make other campers aware if this when...
Read moreOn the plus side, this park is very beautiful, quiet, and the space between campsites is generous. But too generous when it comes to "sharing" the hook up box. I would estimate that the neighbor is 75ft...great...but the hookup we share is in middle. With a 25ft. shore line, in order to hook up you will need an extension cord to reach the box. This seems to be the case no matter what amp you need. BRING AN EXTENSION CORD FOR YOUR AMP. You will probably need it. Some sites have even more distance. I spoke to a very nice person in office and he said it is a problem with the campground and should say on the website, but does not. On top of that, there is 1 water source to service many campsites. So come with a full fresh tank if you do not want to walk a long way to fill up a Jerry jug. Some sites are closer to the source and you may be able to fill your tanks with enough hose. Continuous water hook up is not available here. For the price I paid, and the inconvenience of having to purchase an extension cord (that I will probably need again) and little access to water, I would have paid $5 more for full hook up some place else. But again, the park is very quiet and sparse so these may not be a problem for you. But I am disabled, so was for me and why I am...
