Google prompted me to leave a review so... Pros: Fall festivities here provide a great atmosphere - the farm is beautifully kept and tidy. Activities are well organized around the central market (pumpkin picking, raspberry/apple gathering, corn maze etc.) providing a pleasant day out with the family. Hot food (brats/onion rings/spicy tenders) is deeeeelicious. The corn maze is always great - the annual designs and clue hunts are good fun! Fruit an pumpkin gathering is conveniently close yet gives a nice sense of being out in the fields of a working farm. Parking is well organized and not bad during peak times.
Cons: Priced for the wealthy - $10 per person for the corn maze is extortionate with only $1 going to charity. Party of 12 = $120 for a walk in the corn which is just crazy for families with little ones who may only have come to pick a pumpkin! Food prices equally horrendous - one order each of a brat, rings and tenders was $40! Wait time for food is too long even if the ordering lines are short (I guess people order online for pickup while they are there). The staff may have been prompted to be engaging, maybe a bit too much so. Signage could be better, there's a lot of meandering trying to figure out where to get tickets and where to go when it's busy.
All in all, come to a pretty farm in the foothills for a nice afternoon of fall activities but bring a week's...
Read moreI’ve been going to Donaldson‘s farms since I moved here four years ago. And order all of my holiday pies there. (At least 10-20 each holiday as we have to have multiple celebrations due to family location.) The hours on Google appear to be wrong as on Saturday they close at 5 PM. I pulled in around 5:10 PM. I noticed the doors were closed and locked but lights bright and still on and employees in. I looked around the outside for the hours, and could not find where the hours of operation were, so I saw three people in there, knocked on the door (not to get anything like special treatment) but to just ask for the hours. ALL THREE EMPLOYEES looked at me and continueD to ignore me standing there in the cold simply asking what the correct hours w were since they have apparently cannot get the Google hours updated. Not only did they ignore me. One of the employees eventually came out to go to her car while I’m still waiting there, and still ignored me while standing at the door, where I had to say “excuse me I’m just asking for your hours because it’s wrong on Google”. Ignored! I don’t know what employees have changed, but it was not a good Idea. Any of the 3 could have come to the door and provided me with the hours knowing that the online hours are incorrect. Never again. Lost a customer who had been loyal to Donaldsons and bought hundreds of pies these...
Read moreI visit this farm often. While you don't get organic produce, their produce is good. Their garlic when just harvested is out of this world! - young and fresh - I usually use it to make the middle-eastern garlic sauce called toum (an emulsification of garlic and oil, with a tad bit of lemon juice and salt). I can't wait for the garlic this season. Other produce that I like from them are their corn, bell peppers, hot peppers, jalapenos, green beans, mushrooms, cauliflower, tomatoes and potatoes. Some of their fruits include some good varieties of apples, peaches, watermelon, sugarmelon, honeydew melon and cantaloupes. They have their own honey too, which is good. They also have a good gluten free section. Their baked goods are good too - I love the Butter Rum muffins! Their dairy is from Byrne dairy in upstate NY. I've never gone on any of their farm tours, but I hear it's great for families and kids. Depending on the season you can pick strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, pumpkins, Indian corn, gourds and squashes. They have hay rides and corn mazes too. They have beautiful sunflower fields where you can take a tour and get good photo ops. Be sure to check out their website for their events. The staff is friendly, so that's a plus too. Some local restaurants source their produce from here so you know...
