The place is gorgeous but beware the rangers that are extremely rude and act like Mr. Lahey from Trailer Park Boys. My husband and I came to see the poppy fields and I asked a park ranger that was in a golf cart that if there was a bathroom. The ranger proceeds to ask "are you camping here?" I responded that we are just here to see the poppy fields. She responds with "if you are not camping here you cannot be here". This is absurd! People from all over Utah come to see the poppy fields and have photography sessions with the flowers. If that is the actual truth, this place SERIOUSLY needs a ranger hut up on the entrance for this same reason because I'm 100% sure that EVERYONE present are not ONLY CAMPERS and to control all of the traffic. There was a swarm of cars, people with photographers, campers, etc and I highly doubt the rangers knew each and every person's purpose here. It sucks to know that we have had a negative experience after driving 2 hours...

Elisa surprised me tonight with an early birthday date to explore the poppies of Mantua.

We were surrounded by a sea of families, high school seniors, and at least one bride being photographed amongst the beauty. We were impressed with how cordial everybody was, including the frazzled campground host stuck with calling tow trucks when people parked illegally.

Grateful to meet Todd and Jessica, originally from El Paso, who were visiting the poppies for the first time since making Utah their home two years ago. Ironically, after living in Cache Valley since 1991, Elisa and I only discovered the poppies about 5 years ago.

Beautiful night with my love! Thanks...

I give it a 5 star for a few reasons. It's free. It's local. It would be beautiful if you go when they are in bloom. There's plenty of areas to see the poppies. There's camping near by so you could wake up with them right near you if you planned it correctly. Although we went way past when the poppies were flowering, we were in the area so we checked it out anyway. We used our imagination for this trip. Maybe sometime in the future we'll plan accordingly but we surely couldn't rate it low because of our bad timing. Here's pics of the...
