Shocked that this park doesn’t have more reviews! On a recommendation from a friend we visited from Terlingua (where we are camping) to hike Closed Canyon and Hoodoo Trails along the south rim (paved road) of the park. Stunning drive and great hikes! Don’t miss the visitor center! You must have the state park pass on your windshield while parked at trailheads so its a must stop but also they have some great souvenirs and knowledgeable rangers. We hiked with another family and kids ranging from 6-14 - they all thoroughly enjoyed the Canyon trail (1.6 ONB on sandy gravel- wear close toed shoes) for its beauty and awe. Hoodoo trail was less exciting but they enjoyed climbing around all the rocks and we found tons of wildflowers around and pretty views of mesas and the Rio Grande.
