Ashton Hill Farm — Attraction in Marion

Ashton Hill is a gorgeous venue that is perfect for a wedding! My husband and I were married at Ashton Hill Farm in Cedar Rapids in October 2022. We chose the venue because of how kind the staff was, how gorgeous the indoor layout and outdoor areas are, and because it was reasonably priced compared to other venues in the area.

The space itself is perfect. Set in a field, the rustic barn exterior with the white and black accents throughout the interior made the venue an obvious choice. It was easily accessible with room to accommodate even large sized weddings. The bridal suite was spacious and had ample outlets and space for the entire party to get ready. There was also a private bathroom for the bride which was so nice to have some space and privacy. The groom suite was also large and had a TV available with furniture to lounge on. The reception area is open and could be transformed into an indoor ceremony space if the weather wasn’t cooperating. The tables, chairs, and linen were all of nice quality and looked elegant against the large hanging light fixtures. Another great thing about Ashton Hill is the access to decor items for rent. It made the process of decorating for the day so simple. There’s a large catalog of items ranging from table decor to arch ways.

We had a pleasant experience from the beginning. From touring the venue, to meeting our venue manager, to the meetings leading up to our big day- all of the staff members were extremely professional and eager to help us have the wedding we were dreaming of.

We had the pleasure of working with MJ, who we then had become our Day of Coordinator. MJ was incredibly kind, detail oriented, and efficient. She helped us to locate vendors based on our budget, and got us connected to each one. Once the vendors were selected, she helped to manage and ensure that everything was ready for the day of. She was very knowledgeable about local vendors and gave great recommendations. MJ also was very timely and always responded promptly to any questions that we had. She helped us to create our floor plan based on our number of guests and showed us each way that we could set up the reception area.

When it came to the day of, she took care of everything! From the moment we arrived at the venue to get ready, she helped to set out the decorations and walk through the schedule for the day. For the ceremony, she coordinated with our DJ to help ensure that our music and the timing of the wedding party was perfect. MJ helped to relieve the stress of the day, and helped to make our day be perfect. We cannot thank her enough for all that...

If I could give this venue 10 stars I would! Making the choice to get married at Ashton Hill Farm was THE best decisions we made in the wedding planning process. Ashton Hill Farm's amazing team ended up introducing to all of our other outstanding vendors so it really started the process for us! The location/venue itself is incredibly beautiful. Every single corner is perfect. From the chandeliers, the outdoor space for the ceremony, fire pits, bridal suites, huge windows that let in so much light, the beautiful chairs...every detail is photo ready. Our design/floral team blew us away with how they decorated the space, but honestly, the venue is grand and beautiful enough on its own! I'm so happy with how our photos turned out and a huge part of that was due to the beauty of Ashton Hill. In addition to the space, I'll never be able to put into words my gratitude and appreciation for MJ Colby and the work she put in as our Day of Coordinator. She went completely above and beyond. Not only was she easy to work with throughout the entire planning process but she made every step of the way easy to navigate. Wedding planning is definitely stressful, but MJ made the whole thing look easy and honestly made it fun. I was amazed by her attention to detail, ability to be in 1,000 places at once on the day of the ceremony, clear and concise communication, and upbeat, positive attitude. She made me feel like I was the only bride she was working with this wedding season, for which I am extremely grateful. She has a gift for this work. If you're debating on whether or not to go the extra step for Day of Coordination, I can confidently say I would not have been nearly as relaxed, happy, or calm on the day of my wedding without MJ. I am not even sure where to begin with this review but I will share first that Ashton Hill could not have been a more perfect choice for our wedding venue; we are so elated about how perfect our entire day was and we owe so much of that to Ashton Hill! From day one, their entire staff has been highly professional, communicative, passionate, highly knowledgeable, and a true joy to work with. Being very type A and of course wanting the most stress free wedding planning journey as possible, it was crucial for me to find a venue that offered planning support through the process and on the day of. They beyond exceeded my expectations and we had the pleasure of working with the owner Megan whose passion, skill, and expertise shined during every interaction. Their planning process made it so easy to not miss any detail and on the day of they alleviated any potential stress as their team was running the show! It was rare for me to ever hear previously a bride say she had a fun and stress-free wedding day but I am here to share that it can happen and it was all thanks to Megan and the incredible Ashton Hill staff!!! Aside from the astounding customer service to us, we also heard from our vendors how much they enjoyed working with Megan! The venue itself is beyond beautiful and was very clean with not a thing out of place. Every single detail we discussed was flawlessly executed. We appreciated that you could select your own vendors (like catering) to bring in to the venue but they did have a list of vendors that frequent the venue that you could choose to make it easy. We look back on our wedding day as one of the best days of our life- we had so much fun and didn’t have a worry in the world as we knew everything was in the best hands possible! Megan is so thoughtful, continued to go above and beyond for us, and we feel so lucky she was able to spearhead executing our big day!
