Sawyer-Ludwig Park — Attraction in Marion

This is a nice park with plenty of walking trails, woods, disk golf, a playground, and more. Interestingly, this used to be the Ludwig Sanitarium back in the days when tuberculosis was a death sentence. There is a small cemetery on the grounds, although I don't know where. There is a small building with unusually large windows that used to be a patient ward. I'm told at one time there were twenty buildings that size, some of which were used for administrative and support purposes. It is still possible to see overgrown walking paths that connected them and a crumbling concrete area where the flagpole used to be. All in all a really nice, peaceful...

Would not recommend. First time there and won't be back. People sitting around smoking pot while their kids run around unattended. Cars constantly coming in and out for no apparent reason, some just sitting and watching for a few mins. Creepy vibes at this place. Saw another review that said the cops frequently patrol here and I can honestly see why. I imagine this a hot place for drug use, drug deals, and child predators. Go anywhere...

Great Disc Golf course! The front 9 are long and open. The back nine is thick. Lots of trees with 13 being the signature hole on the course. There are 2 pin placements for most of the holes and in the summer you will find the course playing its hardest. In the fall to winter going to a shorter, but still tricky layout.
