Where to begin, you are not told by the third party reservation site (hotel guides) that these are condo rooms first of all. I wasn't told that everything in the resort would be closed this time of the year, even the check-in counter; luckily I happened upon a maintenance man the told me I had to drive back down the mountain to check-in at Snowshoe Inn.
The room I stayed in was a 1 bedroom which was nice but it had a bad odor and I guess the owners of the condo do NOT believe that A/C is needed in the mountains.
The next issue I had was the billing, in the original confirmation email they gave my room total charge in a large font, but at the bottom of the email they stated that an additional resort fee would be added that was over $200.00 extra, the font for that charge was 1/2 the size of the total charge font. When I proceeded to call to get some resolution on what I believe was an overcharge the third party co kept saying that they couldn't reach anyone at the resort, that's because like I said before the Resort was completely closed as far as check-in, restaurants, souvenir shop, and etc...
I then reached out to management at The Snowshoe Inn and they proceeded to tell me that they couldn't do anything for me because it had been too long since my reservation was made and completed and they don't own the resort, it is not a Snowshoe property. She also said that they don't know how third party cos. list or confirm reservations for the property. They also used the excuse that the resort fee was already paid out to the condo owner and the clean-up crew, WOW! They were completely unwilling to give excellent customer service and at least offer a partial refund on the resort fee. Needless to say I will NOT be staying at Silver Creek...
Read moreI spent about a week in this ski resort to enjoy the pre-season ski. Good: I must agree that the resort is located in a very convenient place for ski and tubing. There is also a shuttle bus running between Silver Creek ski area and the Snowshow ski area. So, location is the best thing one can get from this resort. Bad: This resort has some very obvious unfavored points. These unexpectations may come from my limited experiences living in a ski-in and ski-out resort. 1 - it is a resort resort one imagines. You are NOT living in a hotel. This resort is more like an airbnb rental. Each unit is in fact owned by someone else. So, you need to do all the cleaning work. You will not have house keeping service unless you pay for it. The description in the website is not clear about the lack of this situation. 2 - since each room is different, the bed condition and bed size are different one from the other. If you need to get a king size room, you need to specify that early. Once your room is assigned, it is impossible to change. 3 - products sold in the onsite grocery store is super expensive. I didn't get a chance to dine in the onsite restaurant since I can use the kitchen in the room. 4 - staffs are under trained. Staffs gave me two opposite direction about housekeeping policy. 5 - ticket policy for minor is VERY INSANE. They even asked my 3 year old to show a lift ticket when she try to learn how to ski in the learning area. It is rediculous since when I purchased my pre-season pass, I was informed that 3 year old is free for the pass. At this moment, I can't say I will or will not stay in this resort for the next time.
My stars go for location and...
Read moreSnowshoe resort consists of two ski/snowboard areas: Snowshoe proper and Silver Creek. A shuttle runs between the two every hour. Snowshoe shuts down at 4:30 pm, but ski lifts in Silver Creek operate until 9 pm, except for the Flying Eagle. I recommend staying at Silver Creek and taking a shuttle to Snowshoe. The trails serviced by the Flying Eagle are black diamonds, and they are the best of all. Deer come to Ski Patrol hut to eat bread tossed by staff. (Of note, it is not a good habit to feed wildlife). The best time to ski and ride is during workdays before 4 pm. After then, crowds from Snowshoe arrive for the night skiing. For rentals and tickets, go to the Silver Creek Lodge. For those inspired by the Olympics: there are two good terrain parks. The Ski Patrol practises regularly, and they would evacuate you promptly if you happen to face-plant on the rail. The Silver Creek Lodge is within a very short (1-2 min) walking distance from the nearest ski hill. The accommodations are adequate and cheaper than at the Snowshoe proper. The lodge has indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna, two hot tubs, a small fitness room, a few shops, a sports bar and the Bear Den. The latter offers drinks and entertainment - the arcades, a pool table, etc. There are NO grocery stores at Silver Creek, and the shops inside the lodge are insanely expensive. If you stay for longer than a day, bring your own supplies, as every unit has a kitchenette. I saw people who brought crock-pots and air fryers! The rentals, lift tickets, and lockers are on the first floor - follow the signs from...
