I love Grist Mills! Beautiful multi-story stone structure with a fairly large water wheel around 25 plus feet in diameter. Very Scenic as it is along the Susquehanna and the mostly defunct canal. Great hiking spot they used to have tours but I don't know if they still do. Lots of History to see and read about. When I drive by here several times a year. The Mill Race for the Grist Mill is very visible. You can follow it up to the overflow dam which is pretty cool to see also. Don't forget to check out the coke furnace just up Deer Creek which is a couple miles Upstream from the mill. Probably not extremely wheelchair friendly because of gravel Road and parking lot....
Read moreFree entry. Parking lot fits up to about 20 cars. Maybe more. Hardly busy even on the weekends. Kind of a cool sight to see. Trailhead starts here as well. Bike, jog, dog walk here. All pretty good for it. It's a great place to just sit in nature on the berms of the shoreline looking over the river. Some spots of the trail are spotty though and there are bees on the Northside...
