Seriously stunning! It is Spring time, end of March. I arrived to the 11 mile scenic drive by 8am on a weekday. just two hours later the traffic was really picking up. If you want a little extra quietness and privacy for pulling onto the pull off spots and doing nature photography just be sure to get there early! Get there for sunrise I promise it’s worth it. It is simply beautiful. The historic cabins and churches that you can check out on the drive were also really cool. Great experience!

I generally avoid Cades Cove, especially during peak seasons, because of the crowds and near gridlock traffic. However on Wednesday mornings the Cove is closed to cars until 10am and suddenly the loop is transformed into a traffic-free spectacular bike ride (or hike) that we take advantage of frequently. Bonus: Bears are very common along this route.

Bike the loop, don't ride in a car - you'll be able to see much more and go at your own pace on a bike. The loop is closed to cars on Saturday mornings until 10am. I started at 8am and finished at 10:30am (stopped several times to rest/take pictures)

Come prepared to put in some work on that bike!! Some of the grades are steep. Don't be afraid to walk your bike up. There's a bike rental area for a decent price if you don't own a bike. It's a beautiful trail - you'll probably see some...

I am unhappy Cades Cove loop road is closed to cars on Wednesday every week through September. The bike folks have their own time for having the loop to their self any how. This is wrong and redicilious. I just drove up there for nothing! The Park service needs to do a better job publicizing this awful situation to the public. I was in a park service facility i Tuesday and there were no signs or any of the service employees saying anything about this...
