First of all, let me say that the Tarheel TrailBlazers have done a stellar job of crafting this trail. It's not the most challenging or the most technical mountain biking trail in the Charlotte MSA, but in my opinion, it's the most fun. The main (front loop) is rollercoasteresque, with sudden dips and climbs, not to mention it has some really nice flow to it. Beginning riders might find this part of the trail a bit challenging, however, and might want to walk it first so that they can size it up before attempting it on a mountain bike. The backside loop, in contrast, is more mellow, with just the right amount of turns and climbs for the beginner to intermediate rider. That being said, I feel that for the safety of both mountain bikers and walkers, especially those who are senior citizens, that I must offer some constructive criticism. The Backside Loop is poorly marked, to say the least. Probably the most poorly marked trail in the entire Charlotte MSA.I see the potential for some serious problems. Not once, but twice now I've helped folks find their way out of the backside loop—the first time a mom with kid in tow, and the second time an older couple who were nothing short of panic-stricken given that they were hopelessly lost, and the sun was setting fast. The Main Loop, however, is...
Read moreLoved taking the kids on the trails that connect to Andulusian Dr and go into the bike/walking trails. The kids had a great time hunting for rocks even though many are covered by leaves right now due to the season.
We had thought we would make it to the park but short legs get tired quickly. I attempted to take a stroller on the trail 🤪 but there are too many roots to make that a good idea. We turned around before we got close to the actual park which disappointed the kids.
However, they had a wonderful time exploring, being in nature and finding rocks. We went on a Saturday and spent about 1.5 hours and saw about 6 bikers and 4 other walkers. When we left we walked down Andulusian Drive at Percheron Court to visit the horses. Lovely Outing...
Read moreThe walking trails are in the woods and you do share the trails with bicyclists. When it's very hot and humid out it's nice to walk in the shaded areas amongst the trees. Keep in mind when walking on these trails there are a lot of tree roots and you are walking on a clay surface and there's lots of walking up and down the inclines. The clay soil was dry so I didn't have to worry about slipping and sliding as I was walking up and down the little inclines. I thoroughly enjoyed the law. On the way out of the wooded area I heard some children's voices I walked toward and I saw the starting of a birthday party. There were pine needles on the ground and made it nice for walking and someone had made several teepees out of tree trunks, it was...
