Ho'okipa Beach View Lookout — Attraction in Maui

This is a truly spectacular lookout spot!

The parking lot isn’t the largest, however we were able to find a spot pretty easily, and most people don’t stay long so it shouldn’t be too long of a wait if need be. Also a huge plus that parking is free.

The view is incredible, dare I say the best on the whole island. It looks down to a sandy beach, where part of it is roped off for sea turtles. There were over 40 of them laying on the beach, with even more swimming around in the ocean. They were even burying themselves in the sand, it was super cool to see.

It is also a very popular spot for more advanced surfers, and watching them perfect their craft is a truly inspiring thing to witness. I could sit there on the cliff for hours watching everything, it is awesome.

10/10, would 100% go back and I hope that everyone who visits the island gets a...

Hookipa is like a theater for ocean wind sports. Leave it up to the professionals and experienced humans to entertain you with their sails & kites, and just enjoy the view.

PARKING: Parking is plentiful when there's no surf. When it's up, good luck to you.

THE PARK: There are a bunch of covered and uncovered picnic tables, BBQ grills, grassy areas, restrooms, and showers.

THE BEACH: While there is sand to lounge on, the majority of the water is full of shallow reefs which is not suitable for swimming. However, the area at both ends of the beach have a tiny, sandy, shallow area good for dipping. Past the reef, the ocean gets choppy and pretty rough.

Stunning!! I could spend hour sitting on the rocks, watching the waves crash! So much beauty in one place. Definitely worth the trip. Bring your camera, lots to see! Popular spot for surfers. Incredible watching them ride such huge waves. Very family friendly. The upper grass section is well fenced. Climb down the hill to get a closer look. Flip flops were just fine for making the mini trek closer to the crashing waves. For those with poor balance, runners is probably the better option for you.
