Fantastic beach to catch a sunrise if you arrive into town without much time to go anywhere else. It's off the beaten path and provides a great view of Haleakala and the rising sun, and in January the sun is closer to Haleakala, allowing you to get both in the image with ease.
It's a short drive from Kahului and is fairly easy to navigate to. It butts up against a golf course. There is decent parking, and if you arrive around sunrise there is plenty.

There are showers, bathrooms, and benches for eating lunch. The shore is sandy, but the water is rocky along the entire stretch of the coast here. It may be a good place to snorkel on a calm day. I did have to hold the lid of my container and it was fighting for its life in the wind.
