MUST SEE IN PERSON! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ THE SCENERY, 🏞️ ENORMOUS BOULDERS, ⛰️ CAVES & VIEWS ARE BREATHTAKING!! Our 1st time at Rimrock, & it was INCREDIBLE!! (These pictures don't even do this place JUSTICE!!) My now fiance brought me here specifically to 💍 propose, & this was the PERFECT place! It's absolutely magical here, we truly can't wait to return! We stayed for 3 days (in our campervan), & the trail was surprisingly extremely well maintained! There's a series of several sets of wooden staircases (♿ with handrails) l which lead down to the main overlook. From there, if you're up for a little exploring/hiking down further, (which I highly recommend bc it's well worth it!) you'll be lead to a close-up/hands-on look at the GIANT boulders, & at the bottom when you look UP, you can see just how grand the cliff walls are! Also down below, you can see several crevices & caves, which SHOOT freezing cold continuous stream of cold air, a PERFECT chance to cool off after hiking down there! (At this point I was wishing we could go 🏊 swimming to cool off, just then we discovered these caves & crevices w/the freezing cold air blasting out! We sat there until we were cooled off, it was PERFECT!) Finally, there's plenty of parking available when you arrive, and there's even restrooms near the parking lot. This is also a GREAT picnic place, as there are many picnic tables (each w/it's own charcoal grill even!!) spread out enough so you can enjoy a picnic! I hope my experience helps some of you, & I 100% recommend Rimrock to anyone of any age (we saw many people bring their dogs here as well to...
Read moreSeveral incredible views accessible within 100m of the parking area, which are at the trail-heads of the web of paths around the area. The big rocks from which the views are accessible are too much for anyone who does not have rope and skill; but there is an easy set of steps going down from the center of the overlook to the very climbable rocks of many different sizes at the base of the bigger rocks, where there is heavy shade, "ice boxes", and serenity galore. And for those of you who spend enough time there, there is a small and hidden set of rocks that are perfectly sized for the youngsters or oldsters amongst us (use your orienteering skills to climb in from the highway bridge at the bottom of the mtn and you'll find it near the top). One final point: the drive back from the front gate, about 5km, to the parking area offers wonderful cross-country skiing when the front gate is closed...
Read moreFinally made it out here to do some geocaching this summer. (I live in Chataqua County) Was very impressed, I expected to have a good time but this place was 10X even more awesome than I expected. It was like all of Allegany State park and then some packed into a few acres! Around every corner there was something new to explore! Awesome views of the resistor, several caves to explore, tons of rocks to clime, crazy geological formations, saw lots of wildlife, the accent Indianan stairway was awesome! I could go on and on about this place, just awesome (and this is coming from someone who has hiked all over the Northeast)! Only minor complaint was that the bathrooms were kinda nasty, granted i'm a guy so i don't really care that much. In any even this place is still a must see if you are ever in the Bradford or...
