Southgate Shopping Center has been a part of my life since the early seventies. Several large grocery stores have come and gone that were located there. Some have gone out of business or relocated. It had a large department store called Woolco and a well known shoe store where I and others that grew up in south Memphis shopped there. I got my first social security card from an office at Southgate. My PCP is located there and I have my prescription meds filled at the Regional One pharmacy located inside the Cash Saver grocery store at Southgate. Read moreAs a customer of Southgate I do not feel especially safe, however, I don't feel totally safe in many areas of our city. It's unfortunate Kroger was closed in Southgate when we are witness to Kroger stores in other areas being torn down and rebuilt to huge spectacular grocery stores. There are many elderly residents and persons with limited means of transportation that require quality services and a pharmacy close to them that will go lacking. Read moreIf I can give this place a double negative rating, I would. This place is ghetto as hell and I don't even live there. I'm going by what I saw and how the employees talk to the customers. I know it used to be Kroger back in the day and probably wasn't any better then. My family and I were in Memphis visiting this weekend and stopped there on our way leaving out, going back to our home town. We wanted some watermelons and they were out of them.
