Posting an honest review of Hunter's Run which is still listed as Clearwater Campground on the side of the road. I really wanted to like this Campground. It's a really large campground, Meredith Woods being on the other side of 104. The staff were very polite at the store and I had no issue with my interactions with them. They were very clear our motorcycle was not allowed in the Campground (which we knew), but could be parked in the parking lot. We had it strapped on back of our camper with intentions to ride in town one day. The site I was on was large enough for my 32' trailer. The Campground is very wooded and compared to the many other campgrounds I've been to, quiets down much earlier than most. I was there for 6 days. However, the traffic (constant traffic) driving in and out of the Campground, particularly past my site ( I was on the lake side) definitely does not follow a speed limit and made me feel like I was camping on the side of the road. Barking dogs constantly. I have 2 small dogs that are quiet. I am pretty patient but this was nuts. Dogs barking nonstop. Someone next to us left their dog alone from 9am till 4pm who never stopped barking one day. The site behind me had 2 dogs who barked aggressively at any person who walked by. Another camper chose to walk their non dog friendly dog repeatedly down the road to irritate their own dog causing major chaos each time. I'm pretty sure I took Tylenol each day. My boyfriend spent most of his time in the camper because it was just too much. We said something in the office and also the day the dog was left in the camper. We were really looking forward to this trip but we're left incredibly disappointed. I'm all for pet friendly camping but with the traffic and constant barking, it's not a place I'm going...
Read moreDecent place but they need some work badly. Campsites are spacious, bathhouses are nice, and most employees were nice
Found out at check-in that the pool which is supposed to be “resort-like enjoyed year round” hasn’t been heated in quite some time because it is broken. The hot tub is broken and covered with no timeframe for being fixed.
The sign at the entrance to the campground does not say Hunter’s Run anywhere on either side of the highway, but “Clearwater” or something similar which meant we drove slightly passed it on the 55mph road for fear we wouldn’t have room to turn around if we turned in. Luckily an employee was nearby, confirmed we were in the right spot, so I backed up on the shoulder, creating a potentially dangerous situation. We can’t be the only ones this has happened to. There is also not good signage for finding the pool.
The woman at the pool office was not kind and was unapologetic about the pool and hot tub. We went back to our site, got ready to swim despite the cold water and drove back to find the place locked up with a note about closing early for Mother’s Day. It would have been really nice to get some warning about this since we were there less than an hour earlier.
The front gate locked me out the morning we left. I left to get coffee and came back about 7:30am. The card worked, but the mechanism wouldn’t raise the arm. There is no other way in so I called the emergency number and got no answer or return phone call at all. 15 minutes later a friendly employee wandered out and knew just how to fix it because it has been malfunctioning lately. If they knew about it, why not do something proactive?
The beach/boat area is flooded and not being maintained. Don’t think...
Read moreI've had a seasonal Park model here for 23 years on #229, I love this place, it's been our home away from home, our kids grew up here & still continue to come & enjoy, any time your at one place for a long time complacency can set in, not with us, we take care of not just our Park model but any property of Hunter's Run Campground ( formally Meredith Woods) we take care & respect like our own all year long, we are looking forward to & praying that everything stays the same regarding winter camping, winters are just important to us & my family here, not to mention all our friends & other seasonals that have been here as well, look forward to building relationships with the new owners, management & staff, so far everyone we have met is very helpful, courteous, respectful & informative, they have respected campgrounds in the surrounding areas, nobody likes change, but change can be good and I feel & see that Hunter's Run is gonna take this place to a new level & we want to be apart of it for many more years to come, we are hoping some day to bring our grandchildren up here like we did our children but we have to wait to become grandparents first 🤣 I can honestly say I'm proud to be a part of something for 23 years & I hope that the tradition continues here at Hunter's Run Campground because it's a Great family resort, the best in NH in my opinion, we are willing to make sacrifices to keep winter, summer spring & fall camping here, that's how important this place is to me & my family, my parents had a park model here for many years also, as your can see in my post that this place is a very friendly family campground & is highly a recommend 4 season campground...
