I've purchased from Sun Electronics twice once in 2005 and once 2011. If you understand that they are a wholesaler that also does business directly with the public, it is easier to understand their GREAT PRICES! and excuse their past customer service (They really are working on it and by all accounts are doing much better)
Both times I purchased items at a price that was available no where else, I purchased a power center the first time that others were asking $1200-1400 for a bit over $300! along with 1Kw of panels priced better than all others.
The second time, last year I purchased 4Kw of UL listed panels for about 83 cents a watt delivered! at that time 30-40 cents less per watt than the next closest price. They had purchased the remaining stock of Evergreen panels and moved roughly half a percent of all the wattage of solar panel sold in the USA. They were understandably overwelmed. When one of my panels arrived broken, they shipped out a replacement at their expense, hard to beat that! If you are not familiar with freight shipments once you sign recieved the product is yours. ( I had called and asked if they wanted me to accept and was told to accept them, I can only assume they wanted me...

I recently purchased 10KW of panels from the Evergreen Solar bankruptcy deal. I must admit it was, at first, a frustrating experience. It took several phone calls to place my order, and I had to pay by bank transfer. I was told it would take a while for my two pallets of panels to arrive, and it did. But I got 10KW for $7800 DELIVERED for God's Sake!!!!! Yes, customer service from anyone but John Kimball himself was sub-standard. Yes they seem to have no clue where your order is. But I got it. Period.
Mr. Kimball, I bet you read all of these so here's a few "Room for Improvements"
This company desperately needs a centralized phone tree with one number to call.
They also could use several native English speakers. Many people answering the phone in Miami were near impossible to understand. I finally had to call Arizona to place an order.
An online chat function on your website might make it easier to handle the volume of business.
Bottom line on Sun Electronics...if you want to pay three times as much for someone to hold your hand, call elsewhere. If you want the best price in the country and don't mind a little wait, call Sun...
Read moreGood. After a problem with first shipper, the second delivery of four panels was perfect. The Sovelo panels from Germany are 2.3X as efficient as the Sun panels made in China. Its too bad Americans don't understand and support free solar energy. I do what I can to obtain the technology as reasonably as possible. It wasn't like I got it for cheap from SunElec. No, I obtained it fairly, for the price I agreed to pay, as promised, in good condition. And I am satisfied. I am impressed with ability of this company to make solar technology available to anyone. It is impressive! From perspective of having used a generator to rough-it six years in the N. Minnesota backwoods, solar power is better than advertised. Keep it up, as America is dead-wrong about solar power, and...
