Coming from the area, Sandy Hook is never the cleanest or prettiest, but it is nice for a short trip. This particular review is for the Sandy Hook beach area. Seniors receive 50% off with a federal park pass. Active duty military get free passes. Some of the beach areas have lifeguards and clean toilet facilities. Some have shower areas. There is lots of history...

First time in this beach and we are happy we picked this beach. So soft sand which will stick though. plenty of parking and beach area and oh there are rinse off showers! Bathrooms are clean and if you park in lot D it will be much comfortable for parents with kids. If you drive little further you can see the lighthouse. You better sign up early if you want...

Took an advice from my friend Linda and found ourselves burning on 110 degree beach. This was really a second choice because our regular spot on Fire Island was infested with sharks. Came in 10.30 Saturday morning, waited 45 minutes in traffic and paid 20 dollars fee to enter the park. Lot D, found parking easy, crowds was all right, not so bad for weekend. Beach was clean, waves were crushing hard. Lifeguards on duty. Restrooms, showers are busy. Burger truck, and Carvel ice cream truck were there. Also umbrella, and chair rentals are available.
