I volunteered to get out in the fresh air at Middletown's only real nature sanctuary, Bull's Run, to help remove invasive trees (honeysuckle) that have no nutritional value but that take over growing space of native plants and trees that do support the natural native environment and it's animals. Bull's Run has a number of trails inside the sanctuary. There is the main loop trail, a birding trail, butterfly 🦋 trail and a creekside trail. Read moreNice park! Very little litter, very quiet, and those who frequent are very polite and respectful of others. Not as big as I anticipated however a very peaceful and beautiful spot in the world! Caution there is a lot of poison ivy and sumac off the beaten path but not an issue if you respect the park and stay on the main trails. I would like to see additional "you are here" maps through out the trails. Seems to be a few more trails not listed that need added to the current map. Read moreMy favorite place in Middletown. I really love all the labeled trees out front, and the trail is short but really nice with a lot of elevation changes. You could walk it a few times, or even jog it! Check out the dawn redwood out front, it's my favorite tree. I've been meaning to go to a volunteer workday to help keep up with the honeysuckle.
