Charles E. Price Memorial Park — Attraction in Middletown

There's a lot that I like about this place, but.

Delaware LOVES removing trees and creating boring wide open wastes of space.

The shaded picnic tables are located so far back. You really need a 🚗 to get to them. You can't really just walk or 🚲 here to enjoy your lunch.

Would be nice if these parks has drinking fountains. Water is important.

Again, the trees. 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲 Love natural parks like Brandywine Springs. Trees provide shade while you walk. There is nothing protecting you from the hot 🌞 here, so it will be beating down on you and aging you like a prune with its harsh UV radiation. Fun, right? Walking is sooooo much better without those pesky trees. 🙄

It would be nice if they made a lake where people could actually swim in. I guess people here aren't interested in water or swimming otherwise they wouldn't choose to live here in the first place.

Things I did like:

It was quite & peaceful. Loved the corn 🌽 fields. 😍 I liked the swishhh swishhh sound of the irritation thing. And I had a shaded place to sit down and eat outdoors, which is hard to come by.

large 2 sectioned grassy dog areas. water fountain for the pups and shady trees and a great open field to relax and enjoy your dog play and run with the other visitors. there was a nice breeze the time i went there though it was probably 90 degrees it was fine for furry ones and humans. Down side the 2 times Sarah and i were there, she was attacked. My Hppy is a small 44 pounds of pure love. No sign of possessive or aggressive actions, ever and she was minding her own business. I am concerned and more so because several folks I met while there in the park told me they have seen such behavior a number of times. The park is great in of itself but the point for me is if I drive a half an hour to let my dog have doggie play time, I want to believe she will be safe. Also heads up, lock your car up as best you can... yesterday someone tampered with my gas cover and cap... it was in the middle of the parking lot. I love this park but it just needs some more for all the land here. Just in general there are not enough trees and it makes it very windy all the time, with very little shade refuge available, not much wildlife due to it either although we did see an adorable hummingbird family living under the dock. The older playground needs some new mulch as the filter cloth is becoming a tripping hazard and the slides have a far jump for little ones which offer mud puddles instead of a pillowy landing. Port-o-potty was so full my daughter refused to use it. It sounds bad but I love the can-do park, it just seems like no one has been out there yet this year to maintain anything besides the grass and it needs more than that. The only reason I write this is because the boat has been broken or something from the playground as it is gone and they have coned it off yet nothing has been done anywhere except grass maintenance. But I want this park to get better as we've had a lot of good memories here, so I'm giving incentive for change via 4 stars, along with...
