Did not enjoy this section, my least favorite so far. Trails were confusing and poorly marked, the ATV trails that crisscrossed the MT didn't help. It was buggy in Late June, too. Some sections (near the high voltage power line easement) were very poorly maintained. I was basically walking through plants that reached my head and rubbed against my clothing and face. I ended up carrying a number of bitting insects home with me as a result (1 tick, some others I couldn't identify but found biting me underneath my clothing). Reservoir road was completely washed out and impassable so I couldn't even make it to the reservoirs. The only decent view I saw was mostly obscured by power lines, trees, and the power plant. I'll have to finish part of the trail starting from either Asylum Reservoir 1 or 2 because I have no desire to do it again from here.

This was a wonderful section of the Mattabesset Trail! Mostly well blazed (a little less so further in, but we always found our way), with decent challenges and lovely forest scenery. Lots of flooded areas, so a good pair of boots was key! Will definitely be back! Also, if folks pull in instead of parallel park you can fit many more cars! Please be considerate :)

Some sections of trail are muddy. Make sure to pay attention to blue blazes or else you might easily take a wrong turn. Overall solid trail with great views. Also found one (non-deer) tick on my leg so watch out for...
