I thought ๐Ÿค” I was visiting Monson Center and I had a Charlie Brown having the football ๐Ÿˆ being pulled away by Lucy Van Pelt at the last second and flying in the air yelling ๐Ÿคฏ"Aarg!" and landing on my back moment when Google Maps asked me what I thought ๐Ÿ’ญ of Federal Hill Trails! Extensive! Well maintained! Colorful! Thesaurus! Adjectives! Expansive! Spacious! Oh, confusing! The trail starts at the parking ๐Ÿ…ฟ๏ธ area, which filled up quickly and there is a map ๐Ÿ—พ posted on a tree. Take a picture of it!! We referred to it often! We encountered signs that pointed to specific trails, signs indicating private property, a few spray painted arrows on the ground, occasional markers on the trees, another map ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ, a dried pond, not named Amy, piles of stones, not Rolling, a pile of asphalt, a trail with power lines and lots of old property marker stone walls. We walked most of Michaela's Way and Loop โžฐ Trail. We walked through other trails by accident. My friend, she used her GPS to try to find the parking area. We knew where we were going and could see the parking ๐Ÿ…ฟ๏ธ area but had to walk along the road because we couldn't cross private property. I was enjoying myself but my kids were not into it. My son pointed out that we had seen only one bird and he isn't a fan of birds. All of the trails were well maintained and you could push a wheelchair on the trails. We occasionally met other people. There are a few benches to sit at. There was no litter ๐Ÿšฏ. There was shade that gave us cool areas and shelter from the hot ๐Ÿฅต sun โ˜€๏ธ. The trails need to be marked better and I hope they can post historical information along the trails or at the entrance. Bring water ๐Ÿ’ฆ!! We did and my kids were glad! Walking shoes ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ will suffice. The trails can be used for snowmobiles and ๐ŸŽฟ skiing in the winter โ„๏ธ. All terrain vehicles and bikes๐Ÿšฒ the rest of the year. If you want a quiet and long walk with a scenic drive to visit the trails, I recommend these trails!

These trails are snowmobile trails, they are well marked and wide. Much of the loop is flat, with about 25% having modest grades. Hike as much or as little as you want. Many varieties of trees, wild flowers and mushrooms. Many streams. A pleasant area. It is right on the Milford/Amherst line. Adequate parking for 10 vehicles.

One of my favorite local places to hike! Trails are kept in excellent condition. Springtime brings an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife is everywhere. Go up to Henry's View and treat yourself to a magnificent view towards the east and south. Love heading up to catch an early sunrise. Lots of owls to listen to as well.

There's so many choices to wander around on. In the spring/summer there are beautiful wild flowers planted all over. There's a little bit of everything you want in a trail area. Not usually too busy, but even when the parking lot is full there are a lot of options and I rarely run into others. My children also like these trails. Some are long but you can decide how far to go for...
