Bay Area Family Fun | Ultimate Coastal Farm & Tide Pool Adventure

This is a popular spot for visitors and recreational hikers due to its proximity to the muir woods and SF. There are 2 ways you can do this trail. One 1️⃣ is what 99% of people do. Park at the muir beach overview or 1 mile up highway 1 and walk this little cute trail back and forth. Trail is easy and would work for young and old folks. Good family intro to the beautiful california coastal views but pretty basic and not for serious hikers. The second way would spice this up into a bit of an adventure. This option requires some physical fitness and ability to navigate through a rocky shore by climbing boulders. Approximately 3/4 of the way on from the muir beach overview towards the ranch you will find narrow paths running towards the shore. Take them. You can find a bone graveyard, swings and beautiful shaded areas on the way to the shore. You may need to find your way through the vegetation as some paths that run towards the ocean are not used much. Once on the shore next to the ocean, start going back through the rocky beach using a tall tower rock 🪨 as your guide. Right next to it you can climb up and find you way onto the main path and return. It is worth it, children from about age 7 should be able to cope but would have to be watched and helped here and there. Great photos guaranteed.

Amazing, so good, wildlife, ocean breezes, awesome little hike, beautiful trees and wildflowers, don't forget to go all the way through slide farm down to the tide pools! saw a beautiful owl who tried to poop on us from his perch in one of the most beautiful trees I've ever seen! a magical place 💕

Amazing beautiful place, easy, accessible short and long hike options available. And Slide Ranch is at the end of the trail, an active eco-education farm. Not 5 stars because can be a lil crowded at parts, and, traffic getting there, and you hear noise from the highway during parts...
